OVERVIEW��You are my Sunshine

  • Our idea solves the problem of accessibility and good usage of sunlight data from NASA's POWER portal by displaying the important data in a simplified format through a well-designed app so that any user from all over the world can access the data with ease.

  • Currently, there are very few apps that integrate all the data and provide all the useful insights.

  • So using our app, we can increase awareness among people to make well-informed decisions about installing solar appliances and hence consequently reduce their energy bills, and produce energy during peak sun hours.

OUR SOLUTION

  • Our app solves some of the most common problems which a person faces while dealing with solar panels
  • This app is targeted towards 3 groups of customers:

  1. People who are looking to buy solar panel based on past irradiance in their locality

2. People who want to examine their panel effectiveness in contrast to satellite measurements

3. Solar power based Startups and companies

  • The user can track his/her solar panel system output on a daily, weekly, monthly or yearly basis
  • The user can see a graphical representation of his/her solar panels and their individual performances.

SO, HOW IS OUR SOLUTION DIFFERENT?

  • The app also helps to calculate energy savings and environmental savings — broken down in terms of gasoline gallons, trees, and CO2 emissions to motivate the user to invest in solar energy.

  • Other than solar parameters, the app also provides other weather parameters like humidity, wind speed, pressure and temperature.

  • Also, our app estimates the power output in terms of how many common electrical appliances(like fans,bulbs) the user can run using his/her solar panel system for that day for easy user comprehension.

FUTURE ENHANCEMENTS

  • We plan to collaborate with companies that produce solar appliances by suggesting users which solar appliances they can buy based on their local irradiance and redirecting them to the company’s website to buy the required appliances.
  • We also plan to integrate solar panel data from users and forecast future data using ML algorithms to give more useful insights to the user.

We are aware that in the app we were unable to add all the above-mentioned functionalities in the app due to time constrain, so we are still working on the technical side and gonna impart the features mentioned in the slide.

But this is what our overall scheme and the prototype of the project is and we are making the best possible efforts from our end to implement all our ideas right into the app.
