Social Health

How are people of color socially affected?

How can we help?

People of color are getting a lot more recognition with the rise of social media and the Black Lives Matter Movement. With tiktok and instagram, people are sharing and spreading awareness for people of color. A lot of small groups such as indigineous people and Yemen are getting a lot more recognition thanks to social media. But with social media there are also some downsides. Now the awareness is good but videos of police brutality are also very scary. Many people are starting to get more afraid of being near a police officer.

Not only should you attend local protests but make sure you sign some petitions. If you ever need to educate yourself more, you can always ask a friend, or click this link for an article to see how you can educate yourself.

Occupational

Health

Occupational Health is connected to health justice because if you don't have a well paying job, it can be hard to pay for medical emergencies.

It can also make it where families can’t afford to get safe food to eat.

Occupational health is connected to racism because it is harder for poc to get the same opportunities as white people to get well paying jobs, This is because of systemic racism. Systemic racism is setup to make poc fail.

Here is a video to help show: Systemic racism.
