Advantage Cashless Claims

Disadvantage Reimbursement Claims

Why you should choose cashless claims over reimbursements

  • Faster approvals. 90% of cashless approvals typically happen in under 60 minutes.

  • The right treatment at the right prices, because insurance companies have pre-negotiated rates with hospitals.

  • Quality control. Insurance companies usually perform quality checks before empanelling a hospital to ensure that they are not engaging in malpractices.

  • Reduced stress. Arranging for funds and maintaining documentation in an emergency can be a stressful process. Cashless claims take care of this for you.

  • Support from Plum. Plum’s cashless team is available for you, 24*7*365.
  • Higher out of pocket expenses. Reimbursement claims typically require upfront payment and incur higher out of pocket expenses leading to financial stress.

  • Slow, cumbersome and bureaucratic. Reimbursement claim approvals could take up to 30-45 days to settle claims due to document coordination.

  • Cumbersome documentation. Reimbursement claims require more documentation (example: Bills, receipts, investigation reports, KYC, etc.) and sometimes even require you to send physical copies which can be chaotic.

  • Partial returns. The insurer could have various reasons because of which they may not reimburse the full amount.

21 of 41

Cashless Claims (Recommended)

  • If you're getting treatment at a network hospital, you can avail cashless claim settlements.

Use the Plum app to find the list of network hospital closest to you.

  • The hospital will send relevant documents to your insurer, who will evaluate and action the claim request based on your policy terms. The insurer will then pay the approved claim amount directly to the hospital.
  • You will only need to pay any difference between the total bill and approved claim amount (if any). The difference could be based on the terms of your policy.

Please Note:

The most common reasons for approved claim amount being lesser than the total bill are:

  • Room-rent limit,
  • Co-pay and Consumables.

We urge you to go through the What’s Covered & What’s not covered section on your Plum mobile app for details on these

  • If your health card hasn’t been generated yet, don’t worry. Raise a claims request through the Plum app and we will assist you with the cashless admission process.

Reimbursement Claims

  • If you're getting treatment at a hospital that isn't in your insurer’s network, then you have to submit a reimbursement. Please be advised – your insurer will reject your reimbursement claims if the hospital is blacklisted. You can find the list on the Plum dashboard
  • Under this option, you'll have to pay for your treatment and hospitalization at the hospital out of pocket.

  • You can apply for a reimbursement claim on Plum's app — we'll work with the insurer to evaluate your claim request and pay any approved amounts to your bank account.

Please Note: The most common reasons for approved claim amount being lesser than the total bill are:

  • Room-rent limit,
  • Co-pay and Consumables.

We urge you to go through the What’s Covered & What’s not covered section on your Plum mobile app for details on these
