SIT Lookahead (from Keith)

  • We expect to finish dynamic testing this month (Dec 23)
    • Note that this machine uses an incredible amount of energy and we still are losing fuses (but ~one at a time)
  • In January 2024 we will remove the M1M3 mirror cell from the telescope (TMA) and start down the 5 month path of installing and coating the mirror
    • includes ~2 months of work under the cell installing actuators and fan coil units
    • In June 2024 we are scheduled to install the M1M3 mirror back onto the telescope
  • VIP lines installation in January to June 2024
  • Mid January through March we will be using the TMA to verify requirements with ComCam, the M2 cell and the “yellow cross” surrogate in place of the M1M3 cell
  • In April and May we park telescope at horizon and
    • Remove comcam
    • Remove M2 cell
    • Install M2 glass
    • Reinstall M2 cell with mirror
    • Reinstall ComCam (End of May)

SIT Lookahead (from Keith)

    • Reinstall ComCam (End of May)
  • And as mentioned before, in June 2024, we are scheduled to install the M1M3 mirror on the telescope
    • Which means in July and August 2024 we are scheduled to be on sky with ComCam
  • LSSTCam is scheduled to arrive on Cerro Pachon in early April 2024
    • A month of unpacking,
    • ~1.5 months of getting it up and running in the white room (on Level 3)
    • ~2 months of running LSSTCam in the white room
    • Mid August - LSSTCam should be ready to install on the telescope
  • On sky with LSSTCam late 2024
