Haiyo~ DFOers,

As always, we appreciate your time to read over our guide.

Feel free to share this guide to your friends and guildies,

and say hi if you see us in game or discord! Thank you~♥

Yong*

Dream

I’m Yong (Explorer Club: lYongl / Discord: Yong*#8972), and here I bring the latest addition to Guide for Dummies: The Black Purgatory. (why does it always feel like “wow finally a new content at last”?) My dear friend Dream (Explorer Club: Dream / Discord: op#1783) will be helping on this guide so please enjoy the guide and good luck!

As always, you will find the mechanics and gimmick patterns of every boss but NOT basic patterns such as “boss slashes forward” or “lasers shoot throughout the map.” Bottom line is that if you see red indicators, avoid it.

For BP, a party can increase the difficulty up to 4 times within the map by deciding which routes to take, so it is important to avoid entering difficulty beyond the party’s strength. I personally think the bonus reward for higher difficulty is not worth your time if the party needs to see multiple patterns (more than 2) for every boss – especially since there is a chance to receive higher tier rewards (without increasing difficulty)

My personal “Cutline*” will be explained in detail on Recommended Routes chapter.

* The only difference per each difficulty is the amount of HP bosses have. (x2 increase per every level)

3 of 32

Basics:

  • Black Purgatory is a 4-man party* ‘belt-scroll’ content, that closely resembles Operation Hope. (*Must have 4 people to start)
  • The main reward is to hyper-optimize your setup via “Option Change System,” and it is yet again RNG dependent Content. (But modifiers can be maxed by using “Fearsome Eye” – a gold flip item)
  • Can be entered any day (up to three times) of the week but only get Two rewards / week. (Similar to Oculus)
  • It requires 30 FP per try and 5938 Exo.
  • Every item / pots are usable except: APC-Summons, Heavenly HP Potion, Lost Elixir and Immortality Formula.

So PLEASE use Undiluted, Warlord and Mind Stim.

Additionally, each boss has a chance to drop Epic / Mythic / Corruption Epic (PoW)

4 of 32

Additional Details:

1. Corruption Epic

  • These are tradable version (PoWs) of existing Epics from Guide of Wisdom.
  • Their options are identical as GoW epics, but can only be modified.
  • Each mods gives 15 stats, and +7 adds additional mods from upgrading.\
  • These can be crafted via recipes dropped or bought from Gabe in BP (weekly/dailies)

2. “BP-Dailies”

  • There is a 4-dungeon set version of BP that reward resets daily, similar to “2+2.”
  • Special reward (per dungeon) guarantees some Ore of Despair, and has chance to drop Fearsome Eye, Epic, or Mythic.

3. Corruption Epic Converter

  • You can fuse multiple Corruption epics into a random Corruption Epic via NPC Judy Ringwood
  • You must fill the Corrupt Energy to 100% to convert.
  • The higher a Product's Modification level, the more Corrupt Energy it adds.

(located town next to Roschest, where 2+2 is at)

Option Change System (Normal Epics)

←13 Fearsome eyes can be used to apply MAX value

Players can choose to revert to previous options if needed

So you should always roll as soon as you have 165 ores

Game UI will show if you will gain PWR (with simple icons)

  • Can be applied to Bottom, Ring, Sub-equip, and Weapon
  • Every modifiers (except skill dmg as these are independently-additive) are targeted to be changed via upgrade, (except for weapon)
  • One can expect 2~8% dmg increase from optimization per piece

▶ Each weapon has preselected dmg modifier to be targeted, and can be changed to 4~16% dmg mod and/or +2 skill lv. to awakens

Option Upgrade System (PoWs / Corruption Epics)

Players can choose to keep previous options

+6, +7 PoWs will gain additional modifiers from

upgrading through this UI

Destructive Energy can be

traded with Ores of Despair and Fearsome Eyes thru NPC Judy Ringwood.

  • Can be applied to ANY PoWs (regardless of parts).
  • Unlike epics, PoWs gain additional modifiers (multiplied per mod level). Additionally, +6 and +7 PoWs gain extra modifiers on top of this.
  • Primal Dream weapons get All Atk 5~15%, 1~3% skill dmg on +6, and 1~3 All Atk on +7

317

+ 1,500,00 Gold

Since PoWs are tradable, you can technically “buy” upgrades by trading PoW to seller, have them use their char. bound mats to upgrade, then trade back.

(Similar to MapleStory’s Flame of Rebirth buy/sells)

Be aware of scammers, as this trade is very easy to fall victim of scam (trade and run.)

Only buy from trusted sellers or have an insurance/middle man.

You can also achieve the same by buying BP on trash alts then temporarily seal and move PoW to the alt then upgrade there.

*DISCLAIMER: I am NOT, under no circumstances, encouraging this.

DFOG homepage

After the initial upgrade, only 10 Energy + 20k gold is needed to reroll.

30 Ores → 1 Energy

1 Fearsome Eye → 21 Energy

Dungeon Mechanism

  • Black Purgatory is a 4-man party ‘belt-scroll’ dungeon that the party can choose which route to take to choose difficulty and reward of the run. (Refer to next slides for recommended routes per power level)
  • There is 25 minute and 5-token limit for entire party per run (does NOT refill upon retreat).
  • After every intersection, there is a checkpoint that party can continue from retreating.
    • The recovery time to re-enter will increase every retreat. 5s80s100 s130s180s

First Intersection

Difficulty / Reward Up

Save APC (Jenna)

Increase Dmg

  • On third intersection, there is War Trader Posia who sells BP only potions. Two most important potion to purchase are:

Mystic Pot can be used as insurance or a “free coin reset” since players will be resurrected with a Cool Down reset.

This massive 30% buff is excellent to be used on Astros when Jenna forcefully puts her in groggy. (Must save Jenna from first intersection)

Party Leader can also reset entire party’s CD. Let buffers use their awakening before resetting (if possible).

8 of 32

Dungeon Mechanism

  • With except for the first intersection (will always be Jenna), one of these APCs will randomly be available for rescue. Once saved, one of the player (in order from 1p → 4p) can trigger its effect anytime in the run. - Default “Dungeon Trigger” Key to activate APC is TAB

Jenna - Cancels the bosses' patterns and forces them into a 15s groggy can be used 2 times

Lilia - Increases damage by 25% for 15 seconds – can be used 2 times

Sieg - Slows time by 70% excluding players (can extend Jenna’s Groggy) can be used 2 times

Ralph - Casts fairies (resurrect players upon death) on all party members – can be used 1 time

Sera - Reduces damage received by 25% – can be used 2 times

Lina - Restores HP to 100% for all players – can be used 2 times

  • Even if players did not choose Dark Knight route (to increase difficulty & reward), they can still appear randomly in the run. These knights have significantly less HP. Think of them as lucky bonus.
    • They can either increase the reward (without increasing the difficulty) or increase the party dmg to next tier.
    • They can appear multiple times in the run. (Theoretically, a lv 1 party can get reward up to lv 4)

  • For every Followers killed, the players receive damage increase 3% → 8% → 25%.
    • Also appears after Each Dark Knights
  • For every Dark Knights killed, Boss’s HP increase by 100% (only difference per difficulty)

Recommended Routes: Lv. 1

  • The Easiest route for minimum power level party to struggle clear.
  • Receives 8% dmg boost, with a forced groggy from Jenna that can be amplified with Poisa’s 30% dmg pot.
  • Cutline: Sirocco Yellow ~ Green Level (Full Epic sets, No mythic, “OK” enchants (event beads), No Sirocco epics)
  • Minimum reward: lv. 1
  • Recommended for first time players or under geared alts to pub.

10 of 32

Recommended Routes: Lv. 2

  • Most convenient route for average power level party to clear smoothly (and receive decent rewards).
  • Receives 8% dmg boost, with a forced groggy from Jenna that can be amplified with Poisa’s 30% dmg pot.
  • Cutline: Sirocco Red ~ Orange (Full Epic sets, No mythic, Decent enchants, Some Sirocco epics, Some BP rolls)
  • Minimum reward: lv. 2
  • Recommended for pubs to clear without communication (or struggle).

☜You always rescue Jenna here

11 of 32

Recommended Routes: Lv. 3

  • Hard Mode” route for strong power level party to clear with some struggle.
  • Receives 8% dmg boost, with a forced groggy from Jenna that can be amplified with Poisa’s 30% dmg pot.
  • Cutline: Sirocco Grad Level (Full Epic sets, Mythic preferred, Good enchants, Sirocco Grad, some BP rolls completed)
  • Minimum reward: lv. 3
  • Recommended for static members wanting some challenge.

☜You always rescue Jenna here

I personally think this level is not worth your time considering how reward only goes up by ~ 8% from lv 2, yet doubles the expected clear time. This difficulty is really meant for “fun challenge” than rewards.

12 of 32

Recommended Routes: Lv. 4

  • Extreme Challenge” route extra strong party to clear with lots of struggle.
  • Receives 25% dmg boost, but no forced groggy from Jenna
  • Cutline: “Min-Max Grad” Level (Full Epic sets, Mythic required, BiS enchants, Sirocco and BP Grad) + High Reinf./some Amp recommended
  • Minimum reward: lv. 4 + low chance for Exclusive Aura (visuals only)
  • Recommended for graduated players to challenge themselves to farm for the Aura (flexing rights!)
