Why is Attendance Important?

  • Chronic Absenteeism is defined as missing 10% of school days, which is 2 days per month or 18 days per year.

  • A student who is chronically absent in high school is 7.4X more likely to drop out.

  • Missing 10% of school days, just 2 days each month, can put children at risk of academic failure.

There will be times when you have concerns and may not be happy about something that has happened a school…..

  • Talk to us!

  • Contact your child’s teacher first. If the situation is not resolved, talk with the Principal. We want to work together on behalf of your child!!

  • Please do not talk negatively about your child’s teacher or school in front of him/her. Doing so undermines our ability to work successfully with your child!!

The most important thing we can do together for your child is be on the same team!

  • When parents and school staff model respect and cooperation with each other, your child learns to have respect for and cooperation with the adults in charge.

  • This is an important attitude that is needed for success in school and adult life!
