JESUS DOING WHAT
THE FATHER IS DOING
JOHN 5:16-20
In the beginning was Jesus, and Jesus was with God, and Jesus was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. (Jn1:1-5)
Religion is man’s attempt to get to God.
People in their religious pursuits of God will often begin with the question..
How do I get to God/please God/get saved (rescued) by God/ get God’s favor?
Due to:
Our questions regress to something like:
Does God really care if I do this thing I want do?
I’m sure he understands why I need to do this in light of my circumstance.
What does it take for me to lose my salvation? Or Tell me how I can go to heaven?
Translation: I’m hoping to hit the minimum requirement for heaven, while maintaining the life I want now.
Or We get really good and hiding behind our rule following on the outside to mask what’s going on in the inside.

We can observe that Jesus lived with a question in his heart everywhere he went…
Father, show me what are you doing here right now and what do you want me to do?
That was Jesus’ reality.
But does that really apply to us?
