Halligan Bar

  • Developed by Hugh Halligan of the FDNY in the 1940’s
  • It’s a multipurpose prying tool consisting of a claw (or fork), a blade (or adze) and a pick. 
  • Designed to pound, puncture, pry, twist and cut all types of barriers
  • Nicknamed “The Universal Key”

Marriage Set/Irons

  • A marriage set consists of a halligan bar interlocked with a flat head axe or occasionally a TNT tool, connected by a Velcro strap.
  • Marriage sets are the most commonly used method of forcible entry.
