Case Info

  • Homer Plessy was a civil rights activist who was ⅛ african american.
  • Plessy boarded a train car and “intentionally notified a railroad conductor of his African-American lineage so that he would be ejected from the train” (). He was arrested and spent the night in jail.
  • Plessy protested the “violation of his 13th and 14th amendment rights” and so began the court case Plessy v. Ferguson.
