Homer Plessy was a civil rights activist who was ⅛ african american.
Plessy boarded a train car and “intentionally notified a railroad conductor of his African-American lineage so that he would be ejected from the train” (). He was arrested and spent the night in jail.
Plessy protested the “violation of his 13th and 14th amendment rights” and so began the court case Plessy v. Ferguson.
