Preparing your class site

Decide on a nickname you want to use. It will be the same for every meeting.

Add a Google Meet icon to your class site and hyperlink it to https://meet.google.com

Display the nickname on your class site so students can copy and paste. Let students know what time meetings will be.

Click in the box to enter a nickname

Start a Meet using the nickname and click Join Google will create a new meeting url each time you start a meeting nickname even if you are using the same nickname)

When you have finished the meeting

Leave the call using the red phone icon

Choose End the call

Treat this like opening your classroom (in Auckland!)

At the beginning of the day YOU unlock the door and let everyone in.

At the end of the period before morning tea YOU wait till the last child leaves then YOU lock the door.

Click the link to meet.google.com on your class site

Click on the box to Enter a code or nickname

Enter the meeting code your teacher has given you then click join

Add a Google Meet icon or button to your class site. You will hyperlink it to the Meet once you have set it up.

People outside your domain need permission to join the meeting. Click on Admit to let people join.

Click the Meet icon on the class site

Click the Join now button

Click Ask to join

The teacher will let you into the meeting.
