This is a technical course that addresses psychological, physiological, and sociological needs of individuals by enhancing the environments in which they live and work. Individuals use knowledge and skills related to interior and exterior environments, construction, and furnishings to make wise consumer decisions, increase productivity, and compete in industry.

Students will have the opportunity to join FCCLA (Family, Career & Community Leaders of America). . FCCLA is a Career and Technical Student Organization that offers students the opportunity for leadership training, community service involvement and competitions at the Local, Regional, State and National levels. In addition, FCCLA membership offers scholarship opportunities for graduating seniors. Students enrolled in FCCLA will have the opportunity to compete in various projects if desired. It is the student’s responsibility to collect and turn in assignments missed due to an absence. All assignments will be posted to Google Classroom the day they are done in class. The student will have one class period per period missed to get make-up assignments completed and turned in. (Ex: 3 class days missed = 3 class days until assignments are due). If you are absent on the day of a test/project, you will be expected to take the test the day you return. School-related absences require that students arrange for his/her work in advance of the absence. 10 points will be dedcuted each day the assignment is late. Student will have 2 weeks to turn in late work with a max grade of %80.

Disclaimer: The nature of Career and Technical Education (CTE) is to prepare students for life after high school. Therefore, soft skills (such as punctuality, professionalism, personal presentation, and effective communication) are critical for student development and are essential to our courses of study and will be implemented into our grading policies. Please refer to TEK §130.55 C.1. to see how these skills apply to our course.

Late Work Policy

Cheating/Plagiarism is not an option the FCS Department will use programs like Turnitin to monitor and prevent plagiarism. There will be no retakes or redo of assignments when caught cheating or plagiarism. Vandegrift honor code policies will be enforced.
