Malay, Chinese, Indian and many other ethnic groups have lived together in Malaysia for generations. All these cultures have influenced each other, creating a truly Malaysian culture. In East Malaysia, there are a myriad of indigenous ethnic groups with their own unique culture and heritage.

MALAYSIA is located in the center of Southeast Asia, a rainforest zone below the equatorial belt that teems with the wonders of nature. Divided between Peninsular Malaysia in the west and North Borneo in the east, its natural heritage has been the subject of documentaries and continues to yield astounding discoveries today.

ECHO 6.0 was more than just volunteering—it was an opportunity to connect with like-minded people, collaborate as a team, and gain valuable hands-on experience in sustainable initiatives. Throughout the four weeks of realization, it was both impactful and rewarding, especially in inspiring the younger generation. Beyond making a difference, it felt like an elevated “high school” experience that fostered teamwork, growth, and meaningful connections. This journey broadened my perspective and once again, made me realize the importance of collective action for sustainability and the future of our planet.

THEIR STORIES IN ECHO 6.0

30 of 32

At the start of ECHO 6.0, I was uncertain about what I would gain besides meeting new people and spend my time doing community service. However, over time, my perspective on this project changed. The activities allowed me to form meaningful bonds with others, i found myself in one of the most supportive communities ever. This experience helped me build confidence and develop the skills to face challenges. AIESEC proved to me that i have a potential and power to create a change no matter where i'm starting from, it strengthened the belief that my opportunities are just as valuable as anyone else’s.
