What are my options?

Central has two different options for Dual Credit Courses:

  • In Person: Courses taken at Central with a Central Teacher. This could be a core content class or a class offered through your magnet or outside of your magnet.

  • Virtual: Courses taken online through JCTC. This course is called DUAL CREDIT PLACEHOLDER CLASS .

What is In Person Dual Credit?

Dual Credit classes taught at Central by Central Teachers.

These courses can be paid for using the KHEAA Dual Credit Scholarship You will sign up through a process called preferencing with KHEAA later in the fall semester.

We have dual credit options open to students in all magnets and we are continuously working to add more and more opportunities. Several of Central’s Magnet Programs also offer dual credit opportunities.

JCTC Dual Credit Placeholder Class

This option is available for only 11th & 12th grade students. If you are interested in taking dual credit courses, please reach out to your counselor.

  • Students must be self-motivated to work in a virtual class environment
  • Students must have a 3.0 GPA to participate.

Post Secondary Readiness

  • Students can obtain Post Secondary Readiness by taking ONE dual credit class.

  • Students must earn a C or higher for it to count.

Other Important Notes

  • Students should be aware the that dual credit CAN impact their eligibility for financial aid after high school if they make poor grades and/or withdraw from too many courses

  • The fee for dual credit tuition, taking more than 2 dual credit classes is 50% of the cost of per credit hour for 2025-2026 SY

  • Students are responsible for paying for textbooks and/or online access codes for e-books
