Important Information to Know Before you Apply for a CSIP:

  • A Central Student Interest Program is a school or program in a school that has a particular focus. In applying for a Central Student Interest Program, you are applying with the intention of attending that school every day for the next 4 years
  • Transportation is the responsibility of the applicant.

Important Information to Know Before you Apply for a CSIP:

  • If you require support or don’t have access to technology please contact your child’s Grade 8 teacher for support.
  • If a student opts to not continue in a program, they will be expected to return to their designated school by address.

  • Applicants select one Primary program choice. Applicants may also include an Alternate program choice in their application. �
  • Alternate program choices will only be considered after all primary program choices from the city of Toronto have been considered.

  • If an applicant is accepted to their primary application, they will not be considered for their alternate application. �
  • If an applicant is offered a spot in their alternate choice, they will remain on the waitlist for their primary choice

Application Process - Expression of Interest

  • Applicants are expected to submit and Expression of Interest in the application. They may choose any way to demonstrate their interest and passion in the area of their program choice
  • Accepted file types for upload include: DOC, DOCX, PDF, TXT, RTF, XLS, XLSX, BMP, GIF, JPG, JPEG, and PNG.
  • Links to shared and accessible files can also be submitted. All video and audio files must be shared as links.
  • Do not send Expression of Interest to the schools directly

Application Process - Expression of Interest

Expression of Interests must make reference to or be directly connected to the Central Student Interest Program and the type of program(s) you have applied for. Please see possible options below.

  • Written submissions (Examples: blog, essay, opinion piece, poem, short story, script, etc.) that refers to the program(s) OR
  • Text-based submissions (Examples: PowerPoint, Canva, Mindmap, etc.) OR
  • Audio or video submissions contain student performance that is connected to the program(s) OR
  • Photographs/ digital versions of student artwork or projects accompanied by a brief description of the work and/or its meaning

Application Process - Expression of Interest

Expression of Interest Limits

  • Written/text-based submissions - student original work with a maximum of 1000 words

OR

  • Audio/Video recordings - maximum 5 minutes - a performance by the student OR a performance of someone else’s composition identifying who they are accompanied by a brief description of how the work has influenced you

OR

  • Digital versions of students’ artwork or projects - maximum 3 original student work samples OR maximum 3 pieces of artwork with the artist(s) identified accompanied by a brief description of how the work has influenced you

Admissions to Programming

Centralized random selection process (lottery) will be used if there are more applicants than there are spaces in the program

Note: students who reside in the City of Toronto will be accommodated before students who reside outside of the city.

All students with a passion and interest are welcome in TDSB central student interest programs and schools.

Supporting Underserved Communities

As part of the random selection process:

  • First Nations, Métis and Inuit applicants will be seated in their Primary Program choice in the entry grade
  • A portion of seats will be filled by applicants from historically and currently underserved communities, a reflection of the TDSB demographic for students self-identifying as Black, Latino, Latina or Latinx and Middle Eastern.
