Introduction

  • Affiliate marketing is a system of promoting a product or service over the Internet and earning income based on each sale, click, or lead. Affiliate marketing is called “performance-based marketing” because income depends only on the results achieved. For example, you promote a product on your blog or social media page, and if a customer buys it or registers by clicking on the link, you are paid a commission. This type of marketing does not require the creation or maintenance of a product, but is focused only on advertising and promotion.
  • History : 1996 – Amazon program, 2000s – ClickBank , CJ Affiliate.
  • Advantages : minimal cost , passive revenue , global audience .

Advantages – Minimal cost and passive income

  • The biggest advantage of affiliate marketing is the ability to earn money with minimal initial investment. You don't have to create or maintain a product, you just have to promote it. This is especially important for people starting a new business, as they can start earning money without investing a lot of money.
  • The second advantage is passive income . With properly organized content and effective advertising, you work once, but the income can come for months or even years.

Advantages – Global audience and flexibility

  • Affiliate marketing also provides a global market opportunity. Through the Internet, you can reach millions of users worldwide, which is significantly more effective than marketing in a limited geographical area.
  • Flexible working conditions are also a big advantage. You set your own working hours, have the opportunity to work remotely, and are not limited to a specific work location.

Disadvantages – Revenue and competition

  • Affiliate marketing also has its drawbacks. The first problem is that income can be temporary . If the content becomes outdated or the product loses popularity, income will decrease significantly. Therefore, it is necessary to constantly create new content and optimize campaigns.
  • The second disadvantage is high competition . In popular industries, such as technology, finance, or fitness, competition is very high. Therefore, the initial income for new partners may be low.

Disadvantages – Strategy and patience

  • The third disadvantage is mistakes in strategy and product selection . If the wrong product or audience is chosen, there will be no profit. For example, promoting technology products to young users may be pointless.
  • The fourth disadvantage is that it requires patience and time . Affiliate marketing is not a get-rich-quick scheme. Many users expect to make money quickly, but for effective income, at least 3-6 months of active work are required.
