What is collaborative Learning?

Collaborative learning is an educational approach that involves groups of learners working together to solve a problem or complete a learning task.

Learning flourishes in a collaborative environment when oral language, communication and conversation between learners takes place. The search for mutual understanding and a shared common goal extends learners knowledge and critical thinking which has a positive effect on learner achievement.

Collaboration provides learners with a unique context to learn a range of social, emotional skills including empathy, caring, acceptance, trust and confidence.

Why we believe in collaborating learning as part of our curriculum?

Relationships are the fundamental source of learning, we learn through socialisation. The capacity to form and maintain relationships is essential to us and how we function in society.

Environments that promote positive relationships, collaboration and a sense of community, promote learning.

Our learners need to be able to develop their social skills and relationships through the approach of collaboration to ensure future success in the modern workforce. Through research (the World Economic Forum), collaboration has been a key skill identified that is needed for the future.
