Why do we have LEC

Development, Performance and Education are strongly connected strategies. This is why we provide you with the NEC and now the goal is for you to create this connection on a Local level.

Your network will clearly

know what support to receive

from the LC in terms of

education and development.

HOW

to approach

LEC

7 of 12

  1. Separate your knowledge topics
  • GeneralThis part is about the general AIESEC knowledge. Some topics are included in the NEC, however with some objectives it is more effective to discuss them in the LC. Usually you put these topics in the beginning of the member’s term. ESPi (ESPasión Induction Conference)

  • FunctionalThis part is all about the member’s functional experience. The knowledge should contribute their performance and make them more confident to develop further.
  • Soft SkillsSoft skills are developed best through LEAD spaces. This part is important to provide members with extra value in the organization.

2. Create your Cycle

  • TimelineFirst you need to check your LC Calendar to see what you will have at which month (national conf, events etc.) then you need to decide your education timeline with the topics that you want to deliver. Don’t forget to think member’s experience duration!

  • TouchpointsAccording to your timeline, all touchpoints need to be defined. You need to clarify all the ways that you will deliver education: virtually or physically, o2o, meeting, summit, local conference or national conference. It depends on your timeline and the activities.
  • ResponsibilitiesAt the end you need to define all FACIs, Agenda Managers, responsible VPs/TLs or Managers for your the whole education cycle. Everyone needs to know their responsibilities for this cycle and prepare themselves to deliver these topics.

3. Start to implement

  • EducationIf you want to educate your members, you need to be sure that you don’t have any missing knowledge in these areas. That’s why you need to learn first, then you can deliver. You can approach to your LCP or MCVPs to have guidelines.

  • TrackingYou need to have your own Tracking Tool in a really detailed way. It can be weekly and monthly and it has to have all timeline and touchpoints as well. Then you can see your implementation percentage monthly. We will add these results to our monthly report.

The Methodology of Education

70/20/10 Learning Model

70/20/10 is a learning model that states that 70% of one’s learning comes from on job experience, 20% comes from peers, and 10% is formal learning. For you to implement DEVELOP processes effectively in your entity, you need to understand the model and enable learning to your members in such a way that they can perform more and better.

Tips for LEC!

  • Use touchpoints that already exist
  • Be creative! Not every knowledge must be delivered in the classic session format
  • Prioritize. Don’t fill your LC’s calendar with thousands of events, they won’t come.
