Module 5
ORGANIC FARMING METHODS
Organic Farming Management Techniques
Organic Farming methods are those that don’t use chemical fertilizers or pesticides and don’t include genetically modified organisms
These methods include
1. Soil Management
2. Weed Management
3. Pest and Disease Management
1.Soil Management
Animal manure
Compost
Green manure
Organic fertilizers
Extracts of plants
Increase the soil fertility by adding natural products.
Soil management by Persons with Intellectual Disabilities
Composting by Persons with Intellectual Disabilities
Cut some stems of the plant (with leaves) and put them in a bin
Add water into the bin in a quantity 20 times the plant material
Leave the bin to a sunny place for 1 month , away from the house (unpleasant odor)
Creating a fertilizer with natural products

Dilute with water (1:10) and apply to the plant
Some plants can make fertile extracts
Allium cepa
Allium sativa
Artemisia absinthium
Nephrolepis exaltata
Symphytum officinale
Urtica urens
Plants that can make fertile extracts
2. Weed Management
Recognize the plant
(keep it safe)
Prevent the weeds
(mulching)
Recognize the weed
(pull it away)
We must check frequently our crop for weeds.
It is much easier to deal with baby weeds than the
big ones. The big weeds take many nutrients and
lighting from our crop, making our plants
grow up insufficiently.
Mulching with:
(to prevent the weeds)
straw
compost
wood shavings
cardboard
plastic

Face the disease
Making an organic pesticide
Add 100 gr of olive soap flakes
Step 01
Add 200 ml pure alcohol
Step 02
Add 1 spoon of soda
Step 03
Now you have created your own organic pesticide! Ready to spray!
In a spraying tool, with 10 liters of water:
