2 credits in one year.

  • More math class, more math homework. A more condensed course.
  • Grade 10 Math in first semester, with a Final Exam in January.
  • Grade 11 Math in 2nd Semester, with a Final Exam in June.

The grade 11 credit is Diploma content, just like the Accelerated class.

  • A big jump in level of challenge.
  • Need to understand and know this content for the grade 12 final exam.

Double Math =

Grade 10 Math + Grade 11 Math

This elective choice is recommended for students with a mark above 80 in Grade 9 Math.

Students with a mark between 75 and 80 must talk to their teacher before selecting this course.

Students with a mark lower than 75 are not eligible for this course.

Why?

  • To be ready for the level of difficulty, pace and workload.
  • To be ready to understand the content well to form a lasting understanding.
  • To help ensure your success and avoid credit problems in later grades

Key Math Points

Students should choose their elective based on interests, skills and readiness

If a student is in accelerated, they do not have choice of math class next year.

Double Math is an elective and does have a mark requirement. Even if the student makes the mark requirement, it may not be the right choice for them.

Grade 10 math is still a challenging math course and gives students the choice of electives and leaves doors open.
