Solution and Use case

  • Dump.waste is under the CHALLENGE #2 - Environmental Challenges.

  • Waste is progressively a problem and a threat to the environment. The goal of Dump.waste is to minimize waste and spread awareness about illegal dumping to the citizens.

  • Dump.waste aids average citizen create data-driven decisions as well as organize clean-ups with the help of empowering community science through a mobile app with user-friendly processes.

Solution and Use case

  • Dump.waste can help users submit information in three easy steps:

    • Photograph areas with illegal dump
    • Quickly provide accurate information about the trash in question
    • Pin and map the data
    • (Optional) Organize clean-up events

  • Dump.waste is unique as its features that give citizens a chance to post about the trash they see around, it provides the local government with a data map of identified waste hotspots in order to assist them in making data-driven choices and organizing community clean-ups.

Specific use of Galileo

  • The following differentiators will be used:
    • Cell-network based High Accuracy Service (HAS)
      • Accurate location-based trash reporting and locating via exclusive data provision and HIGH ACCURACY

SERVICE (HAS) tracking provided by Galileo on smartphones (so the app will come off as "offline")

      • Mainly, to help with scalability in future application throughout different cities (or countries, even) by adding a new category in the GIS. Weather, covid cases, now: trash maps by exclusively hosting Dump.Waste's cloud storage and trash hotspots visualization.

    • Open Service Navigation Message Authentication (OSNMA)
      • Following the footsteps of Galileo’s Egnss4cap, Dump.Waste can also use this to verify information source
