[2nd GRADe] This week we focused on...

Daily 5: This week the students continued their read aloud series on Facing Challenges and how the characters in the stories demonstrated courage. The 2nd Graders also worked on various Seesaw activities to practice double consonant endings and identifying words that end the same.

Writing: The whole class was so excited to jump right back into their Non-Fiction Teaching books! The class continued to add to their subtopics and reviewed how to write an introduction. Later in the week, the class worked on their conclusions.

Theme: The 2nd Graders started a new unit on Sound. The class brainstormed in groups how people communicate with each other. At the end of the week, the students observed various experiments to learn about vibrations.

EE: Ms. Naomi visited the class and reviewed the lessons before break. Then, she introduced the new lesson on birds and their calls. The class listened to various bird calls such as a Woodpecker, Chickadee, and Cardinal. Then, the class went on a bird walk to listen for bird calls.

This week’s 2nd Grade Math Homework was pages 105-106 and 107-108. This weekend’s Math Homework is pages 109-110.

[1st GRADE MATH] This week we focused on...

This week the 1st Graders learned about the Rockhopper and King Penguins. The students studied the various heights and weights of the penguins and how tall the students are. Later in the week, the class compared the data collected and reviewed inequalities. The students also practiced comparing their heights to the penguins and figuring out how much taller they are to the penguins. In Number Corner, the students started a new month and observed that this month, the class will see equations and story problems on the calendar cards. This month, the class also will collect dimes and pennies each week.

This week’s 1st Grade Math Homework was pages 65-66. This weekend’s Math Homework is pages 67-68.
