Ryan Andrew Carter is the youngest son of Harry and Mariywnn Carter of the Onion Lake Cree Nation.

He joined the Canadian Armed Forces in November, 2004. After finishing Basic Tra ining in St. Jean, Quebec, he completed the SQ (Soldier Qualification) Course in Wainwright, Alberta in April, 2005, and the BIQ (Basic Infantry Qualification) course in September in Shilo, Manitoba, graduating as Top Candidate. He is a member of “B” Company, 2nd Battalion, Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry stationed in Shilo, Manitoba.

In January, 2006, Pte, Ryan Carter was deployed to Afghanistan ( Kandahar Province) and served there with 2PPCLI until early August of this year.

Ryan has just been notified that he will receive the “Mention and Despatches” Oak Leaf for special service during action in battle while deployed in Kandahar.
