Dear Families,
Welcome to the 2026-2027 school year! I am so proud of what our students and teachers accomplished together last year. We reached historic highs and grew our overall school proficiency once again. I can't wait to see the official NC School Report Card this fall and celebrate all the specific ways our students shined.
This year, our focus is on engagement, both in the classroom and beyond it. I want to see our students more actively involved in their own learning, and I would love to see our families and community more connected to what's happening at school every single day. Along with all of Chatham County Schools, we will be moving to Talking Points as our main hub for communication between home and school, so you're never left piecing information together from too many places. We will also begin sending weekly newsletters from your child's grade-level team with clear, consistent updates on due dates, curriculum, and the moments worth celebrating.
I believe deeply in holding high expectations for our students, and I believe just as deeply in surrounding them with the support to reach those expectations. None of that happens without you. I am hopeful the intentional focus on engagement will allow us to meet our goals, work together positively, and ultimately grow our students academically and as future leaders. Thank you for trusting us with your children, and for being the kind of community that makes this work possible.
I can't wait to see what we build together this year.
Warmly,Bradyn Robinson

Scheduling
A great deal of time goes into building our master schedule, individual student schedules, and course offerings each year. As our school grows, it is not always possible to meet every schedule request — but many factors are carefully weighed, including:
GOOD TO KNOW
There shouldn't be any surprises with student schedules, though some may be adjusted to reflect the new opportunity to take Spanish as a 6th grade Special.
GMH continues to grow, causing class sizes to be an important factor in the scheduling process.
Schedules will be available in Infinite Campus before the start of school.
Questions or concerns? Please don't hesitate to reach out for clarification.

Infinite Campus
Use the Infinite Campus Parent Portal to view your child's class schedule before the first day of school. You can access detailed information by using this link.
Infinite Campus
2026–2027 School Year
Infinite Campus is an advanced Student Information System used by schools across the state. Its functions include grading, attendance, and the scheduling of courses. Infinite Campus is capable of allowing parents and students to access student grades and attendance in real time, as well as state assessment individual reports. The purpose of this feature is to increase communication and collaboration among parents, students, and teachers. It gives parents and guardians more information about their child’s education and encourages students to take increased ownership of their learning.
Parents/Guardians are provided an opportunity each fall to review their contact information and their student's information in Infinite Campus, yet it is important to contact the data manager at your child's school if any parent/guardian or student information has changed at any time during the year. This will ensure families receive all school communications including (but not limited to) report cards, inclement weather notifications, emergencies, and weekly updates from the school. To create your parent account through Infinite Campus, you will be required to complete your annual student updates.

Walker/Bike Permission Form
Due to the high volume of traffic on Horton Road (15-501), we discourage students from walking or biking home from George Moses Horton Middle School. Our students' safety is our number one priority, and we would hate for anything to happen to them on their way home. However, as parents, it is your right to grant permission for your student to walk or bike home.
As in years past, we will discuss our concerns and review our expectations for walking and biking home with students at the beginning of the school year and as needed. Please remind your child to be cautious when traveling home from school.
For students who choose to bike:
• Bikes may be secured at our on-campus bike rack, which is monitored by our security cameras.
• Students are required to have a lock on their bike for additional security.
In addition, we ask that you complete and submit a permission slip indicating your acknowledgment and willingness to allow your child to utilize this type of transportation. Please indicate whether your student is allowed to walk or bike home from tutoring, clubs, or athletic events as well.
Students who will be walking or biking on a daily basis need only submit one permission slip for the school year. Students doing so on a day-to-day basis must complete and submit a permission slip as needed. Please utilize the Google Form permission slip linked below. No handwritten slips will be accepted, and no exceptions will be made.
Bus Transportation Request Form
Please complete this form if you have not received bus transportation or need an alternate bus stop. If you need a stop in the morning or afternoon ONLY, please put N/A in the appropriate section. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to Kimberly Fearrington (Assistant Principal) at kfearrington@chatham.k12.nc.us

Bus Rider Expectations — The Wildcat Way
Principal: Bradyn Robinson
Assistant Principal: Kim Fearrington
Horton Wildcats HUNT for Excellence everywhere — including the ride to and from school. Riding the bus is a privilege, and it works best when every student helps keep the ride safe, calm, and respectful for everyone on board.
H
Hold High Standards
Remain seated while the bus is moving.
Wait for a complete stop before exiting.
U
Understand Others
Use respectful language with the driver & classmates.
Follow the driver's instructions right away.
N
Nurture the Ride
Keep the bus clean — no eating or drinking.
Help make the ride pleasant every day.
T
Think of the Team
Keep hands, feet, and objects to yourself.
Avoid loud or distracting behavior.
If Bus Rules Aren't Followed
As a school, it is never our goal to give students consequences for riding the bus — we simply want every ride to be safe and respectful for all. However, when a student is unable to follow these rules and expectations, the following consequences will apply:
Consequences are progressive — a warning and phone call home, an assigned seat, then temporary or permanent loss of bus privileges. Any step may apply immediately based on severity.
Warning + Call Home
Assigned Seat
1–3 Day Suspension
3–5 Day Suspension
10-Day Suspension
Permanent Removal
Getting our students back and forth to school safely is our top priority. Every one of our students is important to us, and it matters that they arrive to and from school safely each day. Please take a few minutes to review these expectations with your student.
