Directions to watch- Sign into your Single sign-on and click on the Discovery Education App. (If you don’t see it, then type it in the search bar.) Once you click the app, watch “Insect life cycles.” Next, watch “The life cycle of a butterfly.”

1. Activity 1- Label each stage of a butterfly’s life cycle and write 1-2 sentences about it here. Print or write on your own paper and upload a picture OR type on Seesaw for a grade**
2. Activity 2- Complete the life cycle flip book here. Print and cut to put the stages in order before you stack them. If you cannot print, write the letter that is in the right hand corner of the stage in your notebook to find the special message. Take a picture to upload on Seesaw for a grade**

Wayne Thiebaud (born 1920, Mesa Arizona) an American painter who is known best for his thickly painted American still lifes of foods,cosmetics, portraits and landscapes. At first Thiebaud’s paintings of cakes, pies and ice-creams were laughed at. It was only when an art gallery finally took a risk and showcased his work that the world witnessed for the first time what a truly marvelous artist he was. He is considered as Northern California’s greatest artist famous for turning the concept of food into a driving force of art.

Camille Saint-Saens was a 19th century composer. At the end of the 19th century he composed a musical fantasy as a joke. Many of his contemporaries thought he was too serious, so he wanted to show the world he had a sense of humor. He wrote the “Carnival of the Animals” in 14 parts, and after it came out, he disliked it so much, he forbid it from being played. The only 1 of 14 parts he allowed to be played was the Swan part, which became a favorite for string players. You may recognize the Aquarium part, as it has been in many movies, like Charlotte’s Web, Babe, and Beauty and the Beast.

Please think of an animal you like, and describe what you would make your animal’s song sound like. For example, If I was choosing to compose a song about a bunny, I might use a bassoon, and make short notes, that sound like hopping. I would speed up the tempo to make it sound like the bunny was hopping away from an enemy, or make my volume soft and smooth to represent the bunny’s soft warm fur. Hello
