Patient Rooms

A patient room is where patients stay for medical care, monitoring and recovery and that accommodates visits from relatives. Medical staff come in and out, regularly checking on patients and conducting basic examinations.

Let us help you design your hospital to accommodate the various needs of your patients, while supporting the workflows and routines of medical staff.

Support patient well-being

During a hospital stay, in an unfamiliar environment with little control, patients may experience anxiety, exacerbated by pain or worry. In addition, limited access to natural daylight can negatively affect the body’s ability to maintain a healthy biorhythm and sleep routine.

Patients need a safe environment where they can feel at ease, that provides a sense of control and that supports their recovery and overall wellbeing.

Intuitive controls for personalized room settings that promote a sense of patient control, helping them feel more at home.

1. Personalization

Support healthy biorhythms and overall well-being by connecting patients to nature with lighting that mimics the pattern of daylight.

2. Support circadian rhythm

Light recipes that support healthy sleep routines, aiding in natural sleep and wake cycles that positively impact recovery.

3. A healthy sleep routine

1. Personalization

Being in an unfamiliar environment with little control and privacy makes it hard to feel at ease.

Our connected lighting solutions and intuitive user interfaces make it easy for patients to adjust the room’s atmosphere from their bed to fit their mood or activity or to create a pleasant ambience to receive visitors. This provides an increased feeling of comfort and control.

We can integrate HVAC, blinds and AV systems and control them via our user interfaces or through scheduling and automation.

2. Support circadian rhythm

Our 24-hour circadian rhythms is an important regulator for our functioning and overall well-being. Lighting is key in keeping these rhythms stable.

Changing the light intensity and color temperature over the day to mimic the natural rhythm of daylight can improve circadian functioning and providing natural views strengthens the connection with outside. This leads to patients being more active during the day and sleeping better at night, as well as reducing post-treatment delirium.

3. A healthy sleep routine

A good sleep routine is essential for patient recovery, but it can be difficult to maintain one in an unfamiliar environment with many disturbances

We support healthy sleep routines with lighting that improves circadian functioning, so patients are more active during the day and sleep better at night.

Dynamic light recipes help patients relax and fall asleep. Simulating sunrise in the morning helps patients to wake up naturally.

4. A safe environment for patients

Luminaires with integrated sensors and smart automation detect movement at night, switching on automatically, to safely guide patients to and from the bathroom. This warm, dimmed night light is just bright enough to provide guidance, while minimizing sleep disturbance.Patient elopement results in numerous patient-related accidents. With wearable RTLS solutions, elopement can be detected, and patients easily located with real-time location tracking.

Support staff 24 hours a day

While healthcare workers are driven to provide the best care, they typically work in high-pressure environments, with long shift hours, excessive stress, and possible exposure to aggression.

Medical staff need a safe environment that offers the best conditions for them to do their work comfortably, 24 hours a day, without unnecessarily disturbing patients.

Good quality lighting that is optimized for the daily tasks and routines of medical staff.

1. Support tasks and routines

Support well-being of medical staff working in shifts and help them to be productive with lighting that promotes a healthy biorhythm.

2. Support staff wellbeing

1. Support tasks and routines

Demanding circumstances in suboptimal conditions can cause mistakes. We offer good quality lighting with low glare and accurate color rendering, that helps to keep staff alert and prevent errors that may occur as a result of fatigue.

With intuitive controls and schedule-based automation, staff can match lighting to a task or activity. Zoning creates task lighting that minimizes disturbances to patients.

All our hospital lighting complies with healthcare norms and meets the requirements of healthcare facilities.

2. Support staff wellbeing

Lighting is key in keeping our 24-hour circadian rhythm stable. Working in shifts can cause circadian misalignment, negatively affecting well-being and alertness.

Make a connection with the outside by adding natural views and mimicking the rhythm of daylight leads to improved subjective well-being and increased productivity of medical staff.

We can help to create dynamic light recipes that are tuned to the specific needs of staff working in shifts.

Inspired by nature

In large facilities, patients may not have sufficient access to daylight. Even with windows, the biological effect of daylight is reduced dramatically a few meters from the window.

Bring the benefits of natural light indoors and enhance the connection with the outdoors through natural views. NatureConnect luminaires adhere to a daily rhythm, supporting the biological clocks of both staff and patients, promoting overall well-being.

How we can help

        • Lighting inspired by nature We combine bright white light with a blue sky and sky gradient, providing natural views that create a connection with the outside world.
        • 24-hour rhythm Our natural lighting slowly changes during the day following natural daylight to support our circadian rhythm and provide a sense of time.
        • Natural scenes Patients can choose from pre-programmed natural scenes to relax, receive visitors, or feel more energized.
