Praise
Son of God
Son of God
Shaper of the stars
You alone
The dweller of my heart
Mighty King
How beautiful You are, how beautiful
Son of God
Son of God
The Father's gift to us
You alone
We're broken on the altar of love
Precious Lamb
Our freedom's in Your blood, it's in your blood
Son of God
Jesus, oh Holy One
I sing to You
Forgiven
Savior, I'm overcome
With Your great love for me
Son of God
Son of God
Strength beyond compare
You alone
The darkness cannot bear
Lord of love
Your kindness draws me near, it draws me
Son of God
Son of God
Prophecy of old
You alone
Redeemer of my soul
Come again
And lead your people home,
come lead us home
Son of God
Jesus, oh Holy One
I sing to You
Forgiven
Savior, I'm overcome
With Your great love for me
Son of God
You are worthy
You are worthy
You are worthy of all my praise
Son of God
You are beautiful
You are beautiful
So, I will lift up my hands and sing
Son of God
Jesus, oh Holy One
I sing to You
Forgiven
Savior, I'm overcome
With Your great love for me
Living Hope
How great the chasm that lay between us
How high the mountain I could not climb
In desperation, I turned to heaven
And spoke your name into the night
Living Hope
Then through the darkness
Your loving kindness
Tore through the shadows of my soul
The work is finished, the end is written
Jesus Christ, my living hope
Living Hope
Who could imagine so great a mercy?
What heart could fathom such boundless grace?
The God of ages stepped down from glory
To wear my sin and bear my shame
Living Hope
The cross has spoken, I am forgiven
The king of kings calls me His own
Beautiful savior, I'm yours forever
Jesus Christ, my living hope
Living Hope
Hallelujah, praise the one who set me free
Hallelujah, death has lost its grip on me
You have broken every chain
There's salvation in your name
Jesus Christ, my living hope
Living Hope
Then came the morning that sealed the promise
Your buried body began to breathe
Out of the silence, the roaring lion
Declared the grave has no claim on me
Jesus, yours is the victory, whoa!
Living Hope
Hallelujah, praise the one who set me free
Hallelujah, death has lost its grip on me
You have broken every chain
There's salvation in your name
Jesus Christ, my living hope

Scripture Reading
Romans 3:19-28, Acts 2:37-38
Scripture Reading Principles
Romans 3:19-28 (NLT)
19Obviously, the law applies to those to whom it was given, for its purpose is to keep people from having excuses, and to show that the entire world is guilty before God. 20For no one can ever be made right with God by doing what the law commands. The law simply shows us how sinful we are.
Romans 3:19-28 (NLT)
21But now God has shown us a way to be made right with him without keeping the requirements of the law, as was promised in the writings of Moses and the prophets long ago. 22We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are.
Romans 3:19-28 (NLT)
23For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God's glorious standard. 24Yet God, with undeserved kindness, declares that we are righteous. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins.
Romans 3:19-28 (NLT)
25For God presented Jesus as the sacrifice for sin. People are made right with God when they believe that Jesus sacrificed his life, shedding his blood. This sacrifice shows that God was being fair when he held back and did not punish those who sinned in times past,
Romans 3:19-28 (NLT)
26for he was looking ahead and including them in what he would do in this present time. God did this to demonstrate his righteousness, for he himself is fair and just, and he declares sinners to be right in his sight when they believe in Jesus.
Romans 3:19-28 (NLT)
27Can we boast, then, that we have done anything to be accepted by God? No, because our acquittal is not based on obeying the law. It is based on faith. 28So we are made right with God through faith and not by obeying the law.
Acts 2:37-38 (NLT)
37Peter's words pierced their hearts, and they said to him and to the other apostles, "Brothers, what should we do?" 38Peter replied, "Each of you must repent of your sins and turn to God, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. Then you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
The Journey ofKnowing God
God transforms us as He encounters us
Romans 3:19-28, Acts 2:37-38
People who gave their all - Hebrews 11:19 (NLT)
Abraham
Abraham reasoned that if Isaac died, God was able to bring him back to life again. And in a sense, Abraham did receive his son back from the dead.
People who gave their all - Mark 12:41-44
Widow who didn’t have much
“This poor widow has given more than all the others who are making contributions. For they gave a tiny part of their surplus, but she, poor as she is, has given everything she had to live on.” -Jesus
People who gave their all - Acts 4:32, 34-35 (NLT)
The Early Church
32All the believers were united in heart and mind. And they felt that what they owned was not their own, so they shared everything they had… 34There were no needy people among them, because those who owned land or houses would sell them 35and bring the money to the apostles to give to those in need.
People who gave their all - Matthew 16:24 (NIV)
Jesus’ Command to Us
Then Jesus said to his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.”
The rich man who couldn’t give his all (Luke 18)
The Rich Man who Couldn’t
RM: Good Teacher, what should I do to inherit eternal life? …I've obeyed all these commandments since I was young.
Jesus: There is still one thing you haven't done. Sell all your possessions and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.
The man became very sad, for he was very rich.
Jesus: How hard it is for the rich to enter the Kingdom of God!
People: Then who in the world can be saved?
Jesus: What is impossible for people is possible with God.
How can we
- give our all?
- keep all the commandments?
(Isn’t the Old Testamentrequirement easier to meet?)
Ezekiel 36:26-27 (NLT)
The Gospel, or the New Covenant
26And I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit in you. I will take out your stony, stubborn heart and give you a tender, responsive heart. 27And I will put my Spirit in you so that you will follow my decrees and be careful to obey my regulations.
Deuteronomy 30:6 (NLT)
The Gospel, or the New Covenant
The LORD your God will change your heart and the hearts of all your descendants, so that you will love him with all your heart and soul and so you may live!
John 6:44-45 (NLT)
The Gospel, or the New Covenant
44For no one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them to me, and at the last day I will raise them up. 45As it is written in the Scriptures, 'They will all be taught by God.' Everyone who listens to the Father and learns from him comes to me.
Ephesians 2:8-9 (NLT)
The Gospel, or the New Covenant
8God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can't take credit for this; it is a gift from God. 9Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it.
We can’t, but He can
“What is impossible for people is possible with God.” -Jesus (Luke 18:27)
