Academic Performance

  • Student must be passing all courses he/she is taking.
  • Every two weeks office staff will check and notify students who are not passing that they are in the danger zone of being on the academic probation list.
    • Within the three school days students must have proof of all passing grades.
  • If students are not passing after 3 days they are put on academic probation.
    • Ineligible to compete for 7 calendar days
    • May practice but can’t compete
    • May travel with team and sit with street clothes on.
  • Academic Checks will commence every 7 days after academic probation until cleared.

  • Chemical Use; use or consume, have in possession any chemical where the intent of such use of the substance or product is to induce intoxication, excitement, or stupefaction of the central nervous system, except under direction and supervision of a medical doctor.

    • Violence toward another student in order for them to be a part of a student organization.

Penalties for Violating Chemical Policies

  • Category I (Athletics, Fine arts)
    • 1st Violation - suspended 2 contests or 2 weeks (whichever is greater)
    • 2nd Violation - suspended 6 contests or 3 weeks (whichever is greater)
    • 3rd Violation - suspended 12 contests or 4 weeks (whichever is greater)
  • Category II (One Act, Musicals, BPA, FFA, Robotics)
    • 1st Violation - Miss 1 event
    • 2nd Violation - Miss 2 events
    • 3rd Violation - Miss 3 events
  • Category III (Homecoming Royalty, public recognition positions)
    • Not eligible for these recognitions for 6 months

Penalties begin to accumulate once the student enters 7th grade continuing through their high school career. Penalties served consecutively.

  6. Assault will not be condoned and will be dealt with by the school and local authorities

Violation of Student Code of Responsibility

  • Student is ineligible for a period of time as determined by the high school principal
  • May exceed penalties imposed for first violations
  • Student may lose their lettering privileges

  • The following guidelines are for all participants for all activities
    • 10:00 PM home on weeknights and before games
    • 12:30 AM home on weekends

* If the student knows they are going to be late in advance and have a valid reason they are to contact the coach/advisor to make the proper arrangements.

Must attend at least a half of the scheduled classes to participate that day.

A late game the night before is not an excused absence the next morning.

Found at MSHSL.org - By registering for a sport, all athletes agree to these bylaws and the consequences associated with breaking them.

All attendees will follow behavior expectations - Including WCC expectations

  • This includes sitting in the bleachers and not standing on the floor

4-Step Process:

Step 1 – Student meets with Coach/Director.

Step 2 - Parent/Student meet with Coach/Director (allow 24 hours)

Step 3 – Request a meeting with the AD

Coach, AD, Parent, and Student will meet to discuss the issue.

Step 4 – Request meet with higher administration.

Coach, AD, Parent, Student, Principal will meet and discuss.
