What is Internet Safe practice?

Internet safety is the activity of adhering to practical standards, comprehending contemporary technology, and safeguarding your digital gadgets so you may protect yourself from the malicious aspects of the online world. You need a solid understanding of the Internet, its contents, functions, and uses in order to practice internet safety.

Additionally, it places a strong emphasis on comprehending less well-known aspects of the web, such as programming, webpage interactions, and secure connections.

HOW TO MAKE SAFE CHOICES!

The most important part of Internet safety is learning how to make safe choices.These choices includes the following;

  • Verifying someone’s identity.
  • verifying if a link is safe.(HTTP and HTTPS The S indicates that the website uses something called secure socket layers, which is essentially an extra layer of security that protects information as it goes from a student’s computer to the website’s servers.).
  • Identifying online scam.
  • Protecting privacy.
  • Identifying cyberbullying.
  • Using ad blockers.
  • Using Virtual Personal Network(VPN) A VPN establishes a secure connection between someone’s device and a proxy location. In addition, the VPN creates a digital “shell” that protects that connection..

WHAT ARE SOME SAFETY INTERNET PRACTICES ON DISCORD?

    • Choose a secure password. Use strong passwords made up of alphabets, letters, alphanumeric keys and symbols.
    • Consider enabling two-factor authentication (2FA)
    • Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) is the most secure way to protect your account. You can use Google Authenticator, Authy, and other authenticator apps on a mobile device in order to authorize access to your account.
    • Set your privacy & safety settings .
    • Block other users.

CONT’D

  • Follow safe account practices

As with any online interaction, I recommend following some simple rules while you’re on Discord:

  • Be wary of suspicious links and files
  • DON'T click on links that look suspicious or appear to have been shortened or altered. Discord will try and warn you about links that are questionable, but it’s no substitute for thinking before you click.
  • DON'T download files or applications from users you don't know or trust. Except you are expecting a file from someone? If not, don’t click the file!
  • DON'T open a file that your browser or computer has flagged as potentially malicious without knowing it’s safe.
  • Never give away account information
  • DON'T give away your Discord account login or password information to anyone.Discord will never ask for your password. They also won’t ask for your token, and you should never give that to anyone.
  • DON'T give away account information for any account you own on any platform to other users on Discord. Malicious individuals might ask for this information and use it to take over your accounts.
  • DO report any accounts who claim to be Discord staff or who ask for account information to the Trust & Safety team.

PRECAUTIONS AGAINST PHISHING ATTACKS

One of the most prevalent security issues that people and businesses confront in protecting their data is phishing attacks. Hackers use email, social media, phone calls, and any other means of contact they can to steal sensitive data, including credit card numbers, passwords, and other private information. Naturally, businesses make for an especially worthwhile target.

There are various phishing techniques used by attackers:

  • Embedding a link in an email that sends you to an insecure website and seeks personal information
  • Installing a Trojan through a malicious email attachment or ad that will enable the hacker to take advantage of security gaps and collect critical data .
  • Changing the sender address in an email to make it appear like a trustworthy source is requesting sensitive information
  • Calling a recognized firm vendor or IT department and pretending to be someone else in order to get information from them.

After all my yan, here is what you should remember

Change your email passwords regularly

Complex passwords do not always mean more secure. You can mix up words to get a strong password

Open only emails you trust

This could be what saves you from dangerous softwareinvading your system and causing you pain

Regularly scan your pc

You know that annoying message that your antivirus gives you to scan your PC? Stop ignoring it! Scan your PC!

Keep your PC updated

This takes data but yes, it could be what saves you from a potential security issues in the future.

Use multiple security layers

Besides your password, add another layer of security so that even if your password is compromised, your account will be safe.

Do not share your passwords!

Your passwords a re private and psersonal! They belong to you and not your relatives or friemds!
