Routine

8:35am School Opens - the gates close at 8:45am. If arrive after this time, you will need go to the school office via the Frinton Road gate.

12:00 -1:00 pm Lunch Time- Children eat their lunch in the school hall. Then they play in the playground, supervised by the midday supervisors.

3:15pm Home Time- Collect your child from the Frinton Road side of the school. Late children will be collected from the school office.

Attendance

Good attendance is important because:

statistics show a direct link between educational achievement and absence levels
regular attenders make better progress, both socially and academically
regular attenders find school routines, schoolwork and friendships easier to maintain
regular attenders find learning more satisfying
regular attenders find transition points easier to manage

Lunch Time & Snack

Our meals are freshly cooked in the school kitchen and provide a healthy, balanced diet.

In line with national policy, all children in primary education in London are eligible for free school meals. However, if you prefer you are welcome to provide your child with a packed lunch.

If you choose to provide a packed lunch please be aware that we like to promote ‘healthy eating‘ and ask that fizzy drinks, sweets, crisps and biscuits are not included in pupil’s lunch boxes. We are a no nuts school. Please do not bring anything containing nuts into school.

In Year 1 & 2 your child will be provided with a snack at playtime. We ask that you do not pack a snack for your child.

Year 1, will have PE on an

Tuesday & Friday

Please ensure that your child comes to these days in their PE kit.

We will be doing physical development activities daily to support fine motor skills.

The PE lesson will be taught by Coach Poppy, a professional sports coach from Merton Schools Sports Partnership.

We also attend Merton sporting competitions across the school year.

Jewellery- On health and safety grounds, we do not allow children to wear jewellery in our school. The exceptions to this rule are small, plain stud earrings in pierced ears, a watch and small objects of religious significance. We ask the children either to remove these objects during PE and games, or to cover them with a plaster.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I bring in cakes and party bags to celebrate my child’s birthday? No, due to allergies we suggest you donate a book or toy to your class book corner.

I didn’t know about the dress up day/ school trip? Please make sure that you activate your MyChildAtSchool account. This is how the school communicates with you about EVERYTHING!

This was different when I was at school! How do I teach it? Don’t worry, we will be holding several workshops throughout the year to show you how we each certain subjects. Remember, You can always talk to your class teacher.

How will Year 1 be different to Reception? From Year 1, all children will follow the National Curriculum. We will continue to ‘Learn through our Play’ with teacher led learning groups. As the year progresses, there may be less play and more formal learning. However, this will be continually evaluated.
