Roll Call

Official (Open)

11 of 23

What is a Roll Call?

A mandatory headcount via Whatsapp to confirm everyone’s safety and help us stay coordinated.

We use it for

  • Morning call to confirm you are awake and ready for the day.

  • Re-grouping in public areas (mall, airport, etc) to find out who is at the meeting point, who is on the way, and who we still need to locate so we can plan quickly.

  • Emergency if we are separated in an unexpected situation.

What you need to do

Action

Details

Respond Immediately to Mark Yourself Safe

You have 15 minutes to confirm your status. Do not wait.

Follow the specific instructions in the WhatsApp message (e.g. reaction with an emoji or typing “OK”).

Check Your Buddy

If your buddy hasn’t responded, contact them immediately (call/text). Do not assume they are okay.

Echo the Message

Verbally tell peers around you to check their phones and respond.

Why Immediate Response is Non-Negotiable

  • Safety First

The only way we know you are safe is if you “check in”. Silence causes panic.

  • Speed

In a real emergency, every minute counts. A slow roll call delays our ability to help or move to safety.

  • Team Accountability

We leave no one behind. Ensuring your buddy responds is your primary responsibility

The 15 Minute Rule

TARGET: Full group completion in 15 minutes.

If you do not respond within 15 minutes (and you are not in immediate danger):

  • Staff will stop everything to physically locate you.
  • This disrupts the trip for everyone.
  • Consequence: Immediate loss of free time/independence privileges/for the remainder of the trip to ensure safety.
