Vaccination - Our campus overall approach is to prevent COVID infection before it starts. This is why we have emphasized the vaccination requirement and our campus has done an excellent job in this area with 79.8% of students who self-certify reporting being fully vaccinated. In addition 90.1% of employees who have self-certified are fully vaccinated. The deadline to self-certify for employees is Oct. 27^th. Students are required to upload proof of vaccination and self-certification is being audited against the California vaccine registry.

Screening – Keeping sick people at home is another way that we have worked to prevent the spread of infection and is why we use the daily health screen. People with symptoms or who have been exposed are excluded from coming to campus.

Face Coverings – Since we will continue to have a mixed population of vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals and due to breakthrough infections seen in recent COVID variants, the campus continues to require face coverings regardless of vaccination status to keep all members of the campus community as safe as possible.

Weekly Testing – Surveillance testing helps us to understand if COVID is circulating on campus and can help identify cases before they are symptomatic. Unvaccinated community members are required to test weekly; however, all campus students, faculty and staff can choose to be tested for free either at the SB or PDC campuses. Employees required to test that do not comply are subject to discipline and students have consequences as well.

Case Reporting – Reporting of COVID cases is critical for us to track what is happening on and off campus among our campus community members. The campus tracks both on and off campus cases and makes notifications when cases are reported. Timely reporting is critical.

If, despite our efforts to prevent them, a COVID-19 exposure does occur on campus, notifications are made to building occupants, classroom participants and close contacts. Samples of the email notifications can be found on the Return of the Pack website. Notifications provide those exposed with steps that they should take depending on CDC guidance for their personal vaccination status. Unvaccinated individuals are required to quarantine for 10 days, vaccinated individuals are encouraged to test.
