Warm-up activity

  1. Pair up in 2’s and sit across from each other face to face.

  • Look at each other curiously for one minute without talking.

  • After the minute is up, compliment the other person on �one thing you noticed while looking at them.

Quick class discussion:

  1. How did it feel to look at each other for a full minute? �Was it awkward or strange?

  • Most of us sit for hours looking at photos of people on our phones.�Why is it much more difficult when you are face to face?

  • After that, each student must say one compliment to themselves.

  • Share how you felt and why you think we rarely say positive things about ourselves?

  • Discuss the following claim: “We are our own greatest critic”, and explore ways in which we can move away from this way of thinking.
