Tiki-Toki Timeline Instructions

**To complete Part I of your Holocaust project, follow the instructions in this presentation.

Step 1

  • Go to http://www.tiki-toki.com/

Step 2

  • Click on "Free Sign Up" (upper right-hand corner)
  • Create a username, type in your gmail email, and create a password.
  • WRITE DOWN YOUR USERNAME AND PASSWORD IN YOUR TRACKER.
  • Check the"Agree to Terms and Conditions" box.

Step 3

  • Click on "Login" and type in your username and password.

  • On "Create New Timeline" type the TITLE for your page as Holocaust Person's Name, By "Your Name Class Period")

Step 4

  • In "Start Date" enter your person's birth date

  • In "End Date" enter your person's death date OR the latest date that you have information on.

Step 5

  • In the "Introduction" box write a 1 paragraph (5-7 sentence) introduction to your topic.
    • Describe who you researched, explain what your initial RESEARCH QUESTION was, and what resources (books, articles, etc.) you looked at.

Step 6

  • Open another window and find an image in Google Images that is related to your topic.
  • Click on "Full-size Image"
  • Copy the URL for the full-size image
  • Go back to Timeline- paste the URL into the "Intro Image" box.
  • In the "Intro Image Credit" box write a 1-3 sentence description of the image.

Step 7

  • Click on "Create New Timeline" box (lower right-hand corner)
  • Underneath the "ADMIN" tab, click on "Create New Story"
  • Type in correct date information (Start and end date may be the same.)
  • In "Intro" box, write a 4-7 sentence description of the event. (What happened? Why was it an important time in your person's life?)
  • Click "Save"

Step 8

  • Click on "Story Media." (Repeat process from Step 6 to add an image. )

  • To add a video, click on "Type" and scroll down to "video."

Step 9

  • Create 8-10 entries, each with its own date and 4-7 sentence description of the event.

  • Include an image or video for at least 5 of your entries. (Part of your "Readability" grade- "The overall appearance of the timeline is pleasing and easy to read.")

Step 10 (Editing)

How do I edit my timeline? (From FAQs)

1. Navigate to the Tiki-Toki home page (www.tiki-toki.com). Here (if you are logged in) you will find a list of the timelines you have already created.

2. Click on the 'edit' button and you will be taken to your timeline's unique page on the web. On this page, you add new stories to your timeline. You can also change all the timeline's settings, such as background image, introduction text, zoom and so on from the 'Settings' tab.

Step 11 (Sharing)

  • REVIEW RUBRIC FIRSTand CHECK YOUR WORK Holocaust Project Part I: Digital Timeline Rubric
  • When you are done creating your timeline, copy the URL/web address and paste it into an email.

  • Send the link to your timeline to ms.wertz89@gmail.com by Friday, May 4th at 9 p.m
