Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP)

College G.P.A.

Must maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of 2.0 or higher or one semester of probation. May lose federal financial aid eligibility until over 2.0.

% of Attempted Credits

Must pass with D or higher at the rate of 67% or higher. If not, will have one semester of probation before potential loss of federal financial eligibility.

Withdrawals

Withdrawals do not affect grade point average. However, a W does effect % of Attempted Credits.

F’s

Watch deadlines, view grades on Blackboard, talk to professor, use the Learning Center, use study buddies to avoid F’s. F’s will count towards G.P.A. and % of Attempted Credits.

High School

  • Parent(s)/Guardian(s) are welcome to contact teachers.

  • Grades are posted in ParentVue and updated regularly.
  • School Closures - no work is expected.

  • Student-athletes are excused for attendance to events and given time for make up work.

  • Grades are made up of participation, homework, quizzes and tests.

College

  • No parent/guardian communication. College staff will not share information with anyone but student.
  • College staff is not required to post grades but may use Blackboard.
  • College rarely is closed. Even if MSBSD has a closure, college still expects student to be present.
  • Professors are not required to give make up time or excuse absences due to athletic/school events. Communicate to professors all dates during the first week of class.
  • Grades are usually made up of two or more test grades, papers and final exam.

Digital Etiquette

🙋 Student must initiate all communication (no parent/guardian contact)

🙋 Use a greeting line with Professor XxxnamexxX (instead of Mr., Ms. or Mrs.)

🙋 Use proper punctuation and grammar

🙋 Be careful with your tone (remember: nothing is ever private online)

🙋 First search, post question to class discussion via Blackboard, ask classmates, look at syllabus then ask professor (or attend office hours)

🙋 Keep messages short and succinct

🙋 Lastly, use manners (please and thank you)
