Identification of 1003 Schools

MRI: MORE RIGOROUS INTERVENTION

For schools receiving comprehensive support that have not met exit criteria within three years, inclusive of one year of planning, the ADE and the LEA will collaborate to analyze previous school improvement efforts/plans, examining why the school-level plan was not effective.

CSI: COMPREHENSIVE SUPPORT

In terms of schools identified based on the ESSA School Index for Comprehensive Support and Improvement in the lowest five percent of all schools, Arkansas exit criteria requires the school to demonstrate continued progress by exhibiting an upward trend on the ESSA School Index for two or more years and meet or exceed the ESSA School Index score that initially led to identification.

ATSI:ADDITIONAL TARGETED SUPPORT

Schools will be identified in need of additional targeted support for an under-performing subgroup. Arkansas’s exit criteria requires the school to demonstrate continued progress by exhibiting an upward trend on the ESSA School Index for two or more years for each identified subgroup of student.

GRADUATION RATE

For any school that falls below 66.67% Graduation Rate

Professional Development Calendar

Budget Sheet

A comprehensive needs assessment, mandated by the 1003 School Improvement grant, provides the foundation for expenditure decisions.

Vendor contracts serve as documentation of services provided to advance school improvement initiatives.

The Professional Development Calendar serves as a record of professional development services acquired.

The 1003 budget sheet provides a record of expenditures and a clear explanation of how those funds contribute to the school's improvement efforts.

Needs Assessment

Questions to Consider

  • What data do you already have that can be used to understand local needs?
  • What additional data is needed?
  • Now that data are collected, what did you learn about the needs of learners, educators, and the school?
  • What are your inferences?
  • How do learner outcomes compare to state, local, or school performance goals?
  • Are there differences in learner groups? Why?
  • How should needs be prioritized when several are identified?
  • What data backs choices?
