For Facilitator - In advance of the session

  • This session is a short introduction to running a Playlist for Life Help Point. This is based on videos and guidance from our Help Point eLearning and we recommend that you work through this eLearning before running this presentation.
  • Staff and volunteers at your Help Point can also work through the eLearning in their own time.
  • To present these slides with videos embedded please download the presentation. Click File > Download > Microsoft PowerPoint
  • This presentation includes some Speakers notes underneath the slides but these are just a guide and you should feel free to add your own personal touches relevant to your organisation.
  • This presentation is not for service users or the people you support. You can find our Dementia Friendly Intro to Playlist for Life slides here

Ways you can help

How you share Playlist for Life is up to you and will totally depend on your services and capacity. Here are some ideas for getting involved but there is no expectation that you should do any or all of the following. All we ask is that you share our resources

Sharing resources

  • Display in your venue
  • Include in mail outs or home delivery services
  • Signpost to them on your website
  • Include in activity packs

Supporting individuals

  • Enable or support people to make their playlist, involve volunteers to help
  • Share resources and advice with specific individuals, families and carers  you think will benefit
  • Use conversation starters and music as a befriending tool / getting to know people

Group work

  • Check out our Group Activities Guide for inspiration

3. Building a Playlist

To create a personalised playlist, we need to find the tunes that are special to us and get them all in one place. A personalised playlist can be short or long. It can be written on a piece of paper. It can be recorded onto a mix tape or made on a computer with a programme like Spotify or iTunes.

Whether you are making playlists for people at your Help Point or just sharing resources, these are useful skills for you to use or share with the people you are supporting.
