What is probability?

Probability is a measure of how likely an event is to occur.

For example:

“What is the possibility of seeing a flying dog?”

“What is the probability of rolling an odd number on a dice?”

“The probability of flipping a coin and landing on heads”

Experiments, trials and outcomes

  • What is an experiment? When an activity is observed and recorded!

For example tossing coins and writing down whether it flipped heads or tails

  • What is a trial? When an experiment is performed, the performance is called a trial.

For example One toss of the coin is a trial

  • The result of each trial is called the outcome
