Transportation and sustainability

How do we get to school?

  • For the ones living in town – they mostly walk, or use a byke/electric scooter to get to school.
  • Don’t use cars to get to school – most of the time, at 8 AM, the streets are so crowded, that you will get here faster if you walk!

What if we live in other areas?

  • Most of us are commuters – we travel daily to school by bus
  • We have two bus stations – most of the time we depend only on public transportation
  • When we turn 18, we are eager to get our drivers licence (even earlier, for a motor bike)
  • We can save money and fuel if we share the car that we are using – to get to school, shopping in town or in other places

… and …

  • When we are at school, we often use to order food (take-aways). Now, we have an option to use Glovo, or any other provider that count on eco-transportation.

  • There are many more options - in bigger cities.

When you will be able to drive a car

  • Chose a small car, with an economical engine, if possible, a hybrid car.
  • Try to keep the correct tire pressure, fuel level, do not use air conditioning all the time, check the engine and brakes frequently.
  • As a driver, do not accelerate unnecessarily, drive safely and avoid unnecessary fuel consumption.
  • … and do not forget to share your car with others, when possible!...

Going shopping

  • Shop for food, essential products, only in nearby stores or on the market – you save time, money, walk…
  • When you have to go by car to a supermarket, take a neighbour/friend with you, to share the car, the costs and the pollution, as well!
  • When you buy online, chose delivery in an easy-box – it is cheaper, cleaner and more convenient! You can pick up your stuff any time you want…

Going on holiday

  • Planes are the most environmentally unfriendly means of transportation – avoid them as much as possible!
  • If you still need to fly, do not use short distance routes – they are the most dangerous for the environment
  • For shorter distances, less than 1000km, consider trains and eco-friendly busses. Most of them offer big discounts for youth/students
  • Try to explore nearby destinations – there are plenty of places to see around you!
  • Do not carry unnecessary, heavy luggage with you!

We are still young, but our choices are important even from this stage
