John 7-10 “I Am the Good Shepherd”
As we live the truths taught by Jesus Christ, we will come to know they are true
As we live the truths taught by Jesus Christ, we will come to know they are true
SCRIPTURE
14 Now about the midst of the feast Jesus went up into the temple, and taught.
15 And the Jews marvelled, saying, How knoweth this man letters, having never learned?
16 Jesus answered them, and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me.
17 If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself.
- John 7:14-17
As we live the truths taught by Jesus Christ, we will come to know they are true
Dieter F. Uchtdorf
Quorum of the Twelve Apostles
Is it possible to find truth? …God Himself—the Lord of Hosts who knows all truth—has given His children the promise that they can know truth for themselves…you must search the word of God. That means reading the scriptures and studying the words of the ancient as well as modern prophets regarding the restored gospel of Jesus Christ... Ponder upon the things you will feel, and prepare your minds to receive the truth…you must ask your Heavenly Father, in the name of His Son, Jesus Christ, to manifest the truth…
[W]hen you are trying to verify the truth of gospel principles, you must first live them. Put gospel doctrine and Church teachings to the test in your own life. Do it with real intent and enduring faith in God. If you will do these things, you have a promise from God—who is bound by His word—that He will manifest the truth to you by the power of the Holy Ghost.

I Want to Live the Gospel(Children’s Songbook #148)
MUSIC
1. I want to live the gospel,
To know that its teachings are true,
To follow the plan of my Savior
And live as he wants me to do.
2. I want to live the gospel,
To know I am heard when I pray,
To know that I will be happy
Because I have learned to obey.
Chorus:
I will try in all I do and say
To live the gospel more each day.
I will try in all I do and say
To live the gospel more each day.

1:44
The Savior’s mercy is available to all who repent
The Savior’s mercy is available to all who repent
SCRIPTURE
3-5 And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst, They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act. Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou?
6-7 This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not. So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.
9-11 And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst. When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee? She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.
- John 8:37, 9-11
The Savior’s mercy is available to all who repent
Dale G. Renlund
Quorum of the Twelve Apostles
The Savior’s mortal ministry was indeed characterized by love, compassion, and empathy. He did not disdainfully walk the dusty roads of Galilee and Judea, flinching at the sight of sinners... No, He ate with them... Like the true shepherd He is, He seeks us and finds us to offer relief and hope…
The Gospel of John records the effect of the Savior’s empathy on a sinner. Scribes and Pharisees brought a woman caught in the very act of adultery to the Savior. The accusers implied that she should be stoned, in compliance with the law of Moses…Surely, the Savior did not condone adultery. But He also did not condemn the woman. He encouraged her to reform her life. She was motivated to change because of His compassion and mercy…
He loves us so much that He provided the way for us to repent and become clean so we can return to Him and our Heavenly Father. In doing so, Jesus Christ also set the example for us to follow—to show respect to all and hatred toward none.

I Thank Thee, Dear Father(Children’s Songbook #7)
MUSIC
1. I thank thee, dear Father in heaven above,
For thy goodness and mercy, thy kindness and love.
I thank thee for home, friends, and parents so dear,
And for ev’ry blessing that I enjoy here.
2. Help me to be good, kind, and gentle today,
And mind what my father and mother shall say.
In the dear name of Jesus, so loving and mild,
I ask thee to bless me and keep me thy child.
Words: Anon.

The truth can make me free
The truth can make me free
SCRIPTURE
12 Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
14 Jesus answered and said unto them, Though I bear record of myself, yet my record is true: for I know whence I came, and whither I go; but ye cannot tell whence I come, and whither I go.
31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;
32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
- John 8:12, 14, 31-32
The truth can make me free
Jack N. Gerard
Of the Seventy
In the world today, the debate over truth has reached a fevered pitch, with all sides claiming truth as if it were a relative concept open to individual interpretation…
President Nelson taught, “If we are to have any hope of sifting through the myriad of voices and the philosophies of men that attack truth, we must learn to receive revelation.” We must learn to rely on the Spirit of Truth, which “the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him".
As this world moves swiftly to alternative realities, we must remember the words of Jacob that “the Spirit speaketh the truth and lieth not. Wherefore, it speaketh of things as they really are, and of things as they really will be; wherefore, these things are manifested unto us plainly, for the salvation of our souls.”

Seek the Lord Early(Children’s Songbook #108)
MUSIC
I’ll seek the Lord early while in my youth,
And he will help me to know the truth.
I’ll search the scriptures and find him there,
Then go to our Father in fervent prayer.
I’ll seek the Lord early, and I’ll obey
His living prophets in all they say.
I’ll keep his commandments; his love will abound.
I will seek the Lord early, and he will be found.

The truth can make me free
If we have faith, God can manifest Himself in our afflictions
If we have faith, God can manifest Himself in our afflictions
SCRIPTURE
1-4 And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was blind from his birth. And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind? Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him. I must work the works of him that sent me…
6-7 When he had thus spoken, he spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and he anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay, And said unto him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam…He went his way therefore, and washed, and came seeing.
8 The neighbours therefore, and they which before had seen him that he was blind, said, Is not this he that sat and begged?
- John 9:1-4, 6-8
If we have faith, God can manifest Himself in our afflictions
Anthony D. Perkins
Of the Seventy
[S]uffering does not mean God is displeased with your life… The work of God is to bring to pass our immortality and eternal life. But how can trials and suffering—especially suffering imposed by another person’s sinful use of agency—ultimately advance God’s work? The Lord told His covenant people, “I have refined thee… I have chosen thee in the furnace of affliction.”
Whatever the cause of your sufferings, your loving Heavenly Father can direct them to refine your soul. Refined souls can bear others’ burdens with true empathy and compassion. Refined souls who have come “out of great tribulation” are prepared to joyfully live in God’s presence forever, and “God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.”
- Elder Anthony D. Perkins, “Remember Thy Suffering Saints, O Our God,”General Conference, October 2021
Faith(Children’s Songbook #96)
MUSIC
1. Faith is knowing the sun will rise, lighting each new day.
Faith is knowing the Lord will hear my prayers each time I pray.
Faith is like a little seed: If planted, it will grow.
Faith is a swelling within my heart. When I do right, I know.
2. Faith is knowing I lived with God before my mortal birth.
Faith is knowing I can return when my life ends on earth.
Faith is trust in God above; In Christ, who showed the way.
Faith is strengthened; I feel it grow Whenever I obey

"I Am the Good Shepherd"
"I Am the Good Shepherd"
SCRIPTURE
11 I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.
12 But he that is an hireling, and not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth: and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep.
13 The hireling fleeth, because he is an hireling, and careth not for the sheep.
14 I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.
15 As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep.
- John 10:11-15
"I Am the Good Shepherd"
Gary E. Stevenson
Quorum of the Twelve Apostles
We understand that a true shepherd loves his sheep, knows each one by name, and “has personal interest in” them…The Lord Jesus Christ Himself said, “I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, … and I lay down my life for the sheep.” … When we confront life’s wind and rainstorms, sickness, injuries, and drought, the Lord—our Shepherd—will minister to us. He will restore our souls. As children of a loving Heavenly Father and as sheep in His flock, we enjoy the blessing of being individually ministered to by Jesus Christ…
Every soul is precious to our Heavenly Father. His personal invitation to minister is of greatest value and importance to Him, for it is His work and glory. It is quite literally the work of eternity. Each one of His children has immeasurable potential in His sight. He loves you with a love you cannot even begin to comprehend.

"I Am the Good Shepherd"
Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world
Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world
SCRIPTURE
16 And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.
17 Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again.
18 No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.
27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand.
- John 16-18, 27-29
Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world
Gerrit W. Gong
Quorum of the Twelve Apostles
We learn much from our Savior’s references to Himself as the Good Shepherd and from prophetic testimonies of Him as the Lamb of God. These roles and symbols are powerfully complementary—who better to succor each precious lamb than the Good Shepherd, and who better to be our Good Shepherd than the Lamb of God?
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son,” and God’s Only Begotten Son laid down His life in willing obedience to His Father. Jesus testifies, “I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.” Jesus had power to lay down His life and power to take it up again. United with His Father, our Savior uniquely blesses us, both as our Good Shepherd and as the Lamb of God…Brothers and sisters, Jesus Christ is our perfect Good Shepherd. Because He has laid down His life for us and is now gloriously resurrected, Jesus Christ is also the perfect Lamb of God.
- Elder Gerrit W. Gong, “Good Shepherd, Lamb of God,”General Conference, April 2018
The Miracle(by Shawna Edwards)
MUSIC
For God so loved the world
That He gave His only Begotten Son
That whosoever believeth in him shall not perish
But have everlasting life
Jesus walked upon the water
He stilled the storm and calmed the angry sea
With His hands He healed the leper
He made the lame to walk, the blind to see
He fed a thousand people with a loaf or two of bread
And when the ruler's daughter died
He raised her from the dead
Jesus is a God of miracles
Nothing is at all impossible to Him
But I know this
Of all His miracles, the most incredible must be
The miracle that rescues me
Jesus bled and died to save me
A price that I could never pay alone
When He rose again, He gave me
The greatest gift the world has ever known
Yes, I can be forgiven every time that I repent
And someday He will lift me up to live with Him again
Jesus is a God of miracles
Nothing is at all impossible to Him
But I know this:
Of all His miracles the most incredible must be
The miracle that rescues me
The miracle that rescues you and me
