4-Year Colleges
Minnesota has 7 public state universities.
The University of Minnesota has 5 campuses/locations.
There are several private 4-year universities in Minnesota.
Why choose a 4 year college/university?
4-year colleges offer the experience of living on campus. Several 2-year colleges do not offer that.
Convenience of not needing a car or buying many groceries may be something of importance to you.. If you live on campus, you can typically walk or use the busses for transportation. You can also utilize the dining facilities to cut down on preparing your own meals.
You may have already completed your 2-year degree and now you are ready to begin your major.
You may have a scholarship (academic or athletic).
Scholarships available
You can earn several academic scholarships based on your high school GPA.
You can also earn scholarships based on your ACT/SAT score. Check with your college on scores that qualify. It may be in your best interest to retake a test to improve your score. Paying the extra $70-$80 dollars for a test has sometimes resulted in a $5,000+ scholarship! That is money well spent!
Division 1 and Division 2 sports can also offer athletic scholarships. You must agree to the terms and maintain your GPA while participating in sports.
