Logical Order

Logical Order: An arrangement that makes sense or follows a rule or pattern.

CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER

PROCEDURAL ORDER

  • Sequences events in the order in which they happened
  • Uses transition words or conjunctive adverbs
  • Shows progression from beginning, middle, to end
  • Often used in stories and accounts (narrative, memoir, & personal or informational accounts
  • Shows the steps of a process
  • Uses transitions words or conjunctive adverbs
  • Explains how to do or make something
  • Often used in expository or informational writing (how to guides, tutorials, research reports)
