The unrestricted grant allowed the organisation to adapt their programme approaches to respond quickly during COVID-19 outbreaks. They have expanded and scaled up essential healthcare services for refugees who had limited rights and access to public health and other social services. The unrestricted funds complemented other restricted funds that the organisation had. This helped them expand their reach.

The unrestricted grant allowed the organisation to pivot based on the needs on the ground by adjusting the program according to the accessibility and availability of data. It gave them the freedom to innovate an in-house digital platform used for CHW and situational performance tracking. Without the need for complex reporting and monitoring mechanisms, they were able to focus all their attention to innovation, be agile at finding better solutions, and not get lost in administrative processes.

The unrestricted grant allowed the organisation flexibility in allocating resources according to the needs of the community and the realities in the field. They were able to reach more people who were impacted by COVID-19. They have revitalized their disaster risk reduction programme and have tested their model within the context of health. The grant received was allocated for program development that supported resource mobilization, capacity building of staff, internship, and organizational systems strengthening.
