GOAL 5: Emigration / Immigration

Choice A:

“FS: Texas Emigration and Immigration”

- In Online Resources briefly review each of the bullet points for online immigration records by time period. These record collections are good for learners to explore later.

- Scroll down to Background and briefly review the bullets as a historical framework for immigration.

- In Immigration Records briefly review the information in “Passenger Lists” and “Passports.”

- Scroll down to Texas Migration Routes and select the Colorado River link. In the page that appears, mention the map, the History section, and the links in the States Records section.

- Open the link for “FS: FS: Texas Naturalization Records, 1906-1989” and enter “Ciro Lezcano” as the name. Then click View Record to see naturalization details.

Goal 6: Military - Choice A:

- In Forts mention the list of military fort locations in Texas. Click the link for Fort Duncan and browse through the page.

- Briefly scroll through the sections for various wars that are listed. These may contain state-specific and general information about military records and conflicts.

- In Grants by the Republic and State of Texas summarize the section to explain the types of land records granted by Texas.

- In County Land Records summarize the paragraph to describe private transfer of land records.

Bureau of Land Management Site:

- Choose Texas in the search box and enter “Johnson” as the surname for the search. Then browse one of the land records.

- Scroll down to the Interactive Map section and click several of the year links to illustrate county formations in the state.

Choice B:

- In the Texas maps page, click the “Texas” map. This shows towns, counties, and undeveloped areas in the state for the year 1868. Zoom in (scroll wheel) to view more details.

“ … Old Maps of Texas (Wikipedia) …” link

- In Subcategories mention the links to see maps by centuries.

- Open any of the maps in the Media section and zoom in for details.

GOAL 9: Newspapers

Choice A:
