What library topic do you love to discuss or care most about? Access and linking content, getting people to the information they need.

Experiences with getting STEM departments to invite us into classes, doing more than sharing stats and purchases, going to meetings.

Carolyn did very little teaching for the first two years. Lots of skepticism about what the library can provide. Slowly been invited to classes, initially 15-min presentations. Try to demonstrate how much context is needed for scientific searching, instructor usually recognizes need for more extensive talk.
Theresa does teaching in a few areas. Originally did “dog and pony shows.” more chemistry resources through NDSU so Theresa and a chemistry librarian would do talks. Now goes into key classes like Organic Chemstry (LibGuide OChem) asked to do a video this year. Creates LibGuides for other classes. Neuroscience (a senior class) she created a LibGuide Neuroscience fun reading and discovery.
Katherine doing a lot of projects looking at research metrics, involved in NIH open access initiative. Support for staff who are doing grant proposals, publishing. Presentations to mortuary science classes. Interestingly, one was a marketing class and she had to tie in business resources. Took over occupational therapy after a retirement. Offered assistance with research, people took her up on it. Especially about pedagogy and developing classes. Brought in for a class -- 2 hour block! Also LibGuides.
Jean’s background is in technical services -- librarian for 30+ years. Added liaison roles a couple years ago. Found that physics faculty were very kind about journal cancellation.

Outreach

Theresa sends monthly updates about what’s been published.
Jean got feedback from math about springer ebooks that their students won’t use it :( :(
Carolyn sends weekly emails to undergrads and grad students “office hours emails”
Theresa tells folks she’s not a chemist and she’s making it up as she goes along. A student contacted her
