About
Inspire Future Generations
Inspire Future Generations opens up space for children and young people to be heard, participate in and empowered in decisions about the environments where they live, learn, and play. The Programme ensures that the design of our cities and communities reflects the needs, ideas, and aspirations of younger generations and that they are highlighted and embedded within future built environment developments.
Active since 2021, the Inspire Future Generations Awards (IFGA) celebrate exceptional initiatives by the built environment sector that centre the voices of children and young people.

The IFG Programme is a call to action, to build capacity within the built environment sector to educate, empower, and collaborate with young people, enabling them to advocate for and co-create a better, more inclusive world.
Children and adults alike often feel alienated and distanced from the decision-making processes that affect their environment and day-to-day lives. — Amica Dall, Assemble

IFGA2026
Open to professionals and organisations worldwide, the IFGAwards spotlight work completed in the last three years that exemplifies excellence in youth engagement across the built environment.
Projects recognised: build young people’s design and advocacy skills; empower youth-led design; influence community outcomes and policy; inspire future placemakers; demonstrate meaningful social purpose; showcase leadership and innovation in the field.
Each year the finalists award entries are added to the TET Resource Bank, sharing knowledge, examples and speakers for TET Dialogues. And Winners Shorts. The entries are featured in our Empowering Environment Report.
