Students can match three-digit numbers to their number names, write a three-digit number in expanded form, compare and order numbers, create polygons and quadrilaterals
Students created a design of a bridge, they built the bridge and explained the strengths and areas of improvement.

Students can determine why choosing certain materials makes a difference when building and why bridges are important in everyday life
In reading we are doing an author’s study on author and illustrator Vera B. Williams. Students are learning to discover things about the author by reading different books from the same author.

Students used the expander to work with three digit numbers and to write the number name. They learned to write three digit numbers in expanded form and compare two three-digit numbers and place them in order from least to greatest and vice versa.
Students are continuing to learn about the 3 states of matter. They learned about physical and chemical changes.
In reading we are doing an author’s study on author and illustrator Vera B. Williams. Students are learning to discover things about the author by reading different books from the same author.

Students learned to read and write times to the nearest minute on an analog clock and to describe time using A.M. and P.M. based on analog and digital clocks. On module 5 students learned to represent three-digit numbers with internal zeros using base-10 blocks.
Students learned about the 3 states of matter, solid-liquid-gas, and how to classify items depending on their physical properties.

Students can relate doubles and near doubles addition and subtraction facts; also called fact family. Students can use this strategy to solve addition and subtraction word problems.. They can read and write times quarter past the hour on analog and digital clocks.
Students learned about weather and the four seasons. They also learned to track the weather including the different types of precipitation.
Students learned to retell a topic, they learned to share their expertise on a topic.. They learned to write a response to share their learning.

Student read information in books or websites, put the information in their words to elaborate on their topic. They included artifacts to expand their writing experience.
In Social Studies, students learned about the first immigrants in the United States and why did they settle here..
As our weather begins to cool down our district is held to dress regulations for recess. Please be sure that you are checking the weather so that your student can be dressed appropriately for the weather. At our school we use weatherbug to guide us.

Students can measure the length of different objects using non-standard and standard units of measurement. They used inches, feet, and yards. Students can figure out the difference between two numerals.
Students reviewed natural resources and man made resources. They learned about Reduce, Recycle, and Reuse.

Students learned to match addition facts, solve addition word problems and tell time, to make groups of ten and groups of 100 that represent numbers greater than 100, to identify a three digit number by breaking it into groups of hundreds, tens, and ones by using an expander or base ten blocks. .
Students can identify items natural resources, explain how the natural resources freshwater and saltwater are alike and different. They also learned to identify examples of natural resources and explain how we use them including sources of water. They can determine if a natural resource is a renewable or nonrenewable resource.
Students can read a nonfiction text, ask questions, and think about what the book is teaching them. They can predict what the book will teach them.

Students can read and write time on digital and analog clocks to the hour and half past the hour. They can tell how many minutes have past since the last hour and they can read time past the hour in multiples of five minutes.
Students can describe a rock by its physical properties and they can explain possible uses of rocks.
Students can answer questions about reading strategies. They can write small moment stories. They can think about the lesson the author wants to teach the reader. Students can reflect on how much they have grown as readers.
Math Slide
Students can help their writing partner by giving feedback. They can get their writing ready for publication. I can celebrate my writing piece with my writing circle. In social Studies students learned the importance of having a password for technology devices and apps.

In Science, students learned the physical properties of rocks, how to classify rocks and the cycle of rocks.
Students learned to think about writing while they read. They can turn their thoughts about an author’s writing into action. They can notice how the author makes the whole book click together.

Students learned to edit their piece of writing to include precise beautiful language. They learned that writers can be bold. In social studies, they learned how to stay safe in the internet.

Students learned to use pictures to create addition facts, to quick check their answers, and fact families for addition and subtraction adding two-digit numbers.
In Science, students learned to recognize patterns in the night sky. We talked about the stars, planets, the solar system and the phases of the moon.
Students practice learning long words part by part, figure out the meaning of words, and how to fix their own mistakes while reading.

Students learned writing moves from texts. They try using writing moves in their writing. In social Studies we learned to engage positively when using technology.

Students learned to re-read the ending and how the problem got fixed. They learned how to predict the story from the beginning and how to compare it to other stories.

Students learned to brainstorm ideas to write about “Small Moments” and Narrative stories.

We learned how to be a PAL and the characteristics of a good learner. Students practiced utilizing SOLO time and getting unstuck during problem solving.
In Science we learned about how to stay safe and keep others safe. We also got our Science journal ready!
This week in Readers Workshop, we learned about the Workshop Model and reviewed how to learn more about the characters in a story.
