The town hall

The neoclassic preservable building found on Mitropoleos street, where today the Town Hall of Veria is hosted, was used as a school until it’s renovation. It’s the place where the poilitical decisions take place and all the decisions are made.

The Jewish Quarter, located next to Barbouta area, and the Folkclore Museum really stood out because these two places are extremely well taken care and truly show the cultural richness in Veria. The Armani influence is also clear in the region.

The White Tower

This tower is not only a monument but also a museum. It became a notorious prison and a scene of executions during the periods of Ottoman empire.

Oikopolis

This NGO plays a massive role not only in our cities but in the society in general. The debate made there was the perfect opportunity to talk about the problems that our society faces daily. Even though thinking about the solutions to these problems is challenging it was important to take a moment and reflect about the world around us.

Wednesday

  • We did presentations of the democracy in our countries and cities.
  • We went to Vergina to see Tombs

The royal tombs and the archeological museum of Vergina are an impressive underground construction that reflect the imperial structure of the Hellenistic and Roman periods. The magnificent tomb of Phillip II as well as the several gold-adorned suits of armours and the golden larnax containing the bones of a human are the main attractions of the museum.

Vaeni

The local vinery clearly shows the importance of preserving and developing the local products, in order to have a sustainable economic growth in the region.

St. Nicolaus

The park of Naoussa is a beautiful place to visit and it was impressive to know that water is used as a source of energy. Hydropower is related to sustainability, due to the fact that is a clean fuel source. This means it won’t pollute the air and allows the production of energy without being reliant on international fuel sources.
