Card Talk
Hand out the Chat Mat: AATF Shared Resources Chat Mats Mon identité, this is not a vocabulary list. Students don’t need to learn all the terms. Ask students to put a heart next to one thing on the whole chat mat that they like and a crossed out heart next to one that they hate.
Hand out an index card to students that they will fold in half to stand up on their desk like a tent. Have them put illustrations on the card (no words) to show one things they like and one that they don’t.
Take a card from a student. Walk around and show it to the class as you repeat the third person form of the question over and over (ex: "What does Ibrahim like?"). In this way, you are inviting your class to interpret the drawing. Take guesses from the class. With each guess, ask the student that you are talking about to confirm or deny the guess.

Game: 1-10 Concentration
This is a theatre concentration game. In a circle, students try to count from 1 to 10 one by one without planning out the order and without two people saying the same number at once. Students get multiple attempts to try and each time they make a mistake, the teacher resets the game by saying, Commencez.

Put chairs in a circle so that it is completely enclosed. There should be one fewer chair than people. One person stands in the middle and they will say "tout le monde qui ______________". Anyone who fits into this category (including the person in the middle) must get up and find a new chair. They must choose a chair that is not their own, nor a neighboring one. There will always be one person who is seat-less, so that remaining person is the person in the middle.
