Self-titled is an exploration project for the students to express their own individuality and reflect their personality into digital art self-expression.
The main idea is to build up self-confidence and discover their interest.

PART 1: IDEA DEVELOPMENT (WEEK 10)
INTRO | My name is Lin Chenyi. I am from China. I came to Malaysia to start my university life in September this year for the new semester. I am a little girl who likes to be alone occasionally, enjoying the peace and quiet of being alone. But sometimes I like to be lively and party with friends. Before I knew it, the first semester of my degree was almost over. By getting along with new friends, I feel a different version of myself. In the new environment, I become more and more cheerful and confident. |
PARAGRAPH 1 | What is your passion? I enjoy watching movies on the projector at home with my friends, having some drinks, some wine, some snacks, and just chatting. Go out to party and enjoy the security that friends bring. |
PARAGRAPH 2 | What inspires you to achieve your dreams? My goals and hobbies. I think the process of realizing dreams is never easy. I need to overcome a lot of confusion and setbacks. I want to live a different life and live a fulfilling life every day while realizing my dreams. Freedom, and my parents. The life I long for is one where I can live the life I want and leave whenever I want, without considering any factors. Work hard now to achieve my dreams and live a fulfilling life. |
SUMMARY | How would you like to transform your dreams into art? Taking inspiration from everyday things and activities, I wanted to embody elements of feeling and thinking about space through the posters. |

FINAL POSTER | TITLE: Wonderful thoughts in dreams |
| ARTIST STATEMENT: My designs are in an old school vintage style. Retro style goes back to the classics. I bring elements from the early to mid-20th century (wallpapers, picture frames) into modern spaces. The flowers extending from the face reflect the inner self. It can be beautiful, strong, great or imperfect. This made me realize that the world needs a variety of ideas and inspiration, and each idea is unique. I yearn for freedom and don't want to be tied down by my current life. But I'm not good at expressing myself. (So I used a photo frame to blur a corner of the dress). Combined with vintage style, I added my favorite flowers and unrestrained butterflies. The font combined with retro distortion floats before your eyes. |

In addition to the statement above (last page), the elements in my poster are:
Regarding the color, I used a warm tone, a bronze-like filter color.
I used front, middle and back scenes to express my ideas:
Prospect: I used the tic text designed in the font class (added color texture and distortion effect to better reflect the fantasy of the text) as the "foothold" of the flying butterfly.
Mid-shot: In the animated poster, my mid-shot is full of content, with a lot of elements added to it. The flowers extending out of the face attract fluttering butterflies, and they stop to represent the other side of me. There are a lot of inspirations for whimsical ideas. , can attract outsiders to stay.
The bear in my hand is surrounded by the theme text. In reality, I am more social-phobic and may be a little shy when facing people I don’t know. In the journey of pursuing myself, I will consider many factors. The words wrapped around the bear Like shackles that imprison me, I have many thoughts in my mind, but they are all trapped by the shackles.
Flying butterflies wantonly is the breakthrough in my heart, the madness to find myself and the freedom to fly far away.
Background: Drama is used as the eye-catcher, combined with distorted font changes to present a sense of animation. On the background texture, I added old textured paper and a vintage picture frame.

(Attach your Youtube video here) | ARTIST STATEMENT: Final short video When the words surrounding the bear begin to spin, I may feel bound and troubled for various reasons, feeling like my soul is trapped in a small space and it is difficult to break free from the shackles. But this feeling is only temporary. When the butterflies are flying at the same time, I can constantly show my inner self, overcome fear, show the truest me, and find my own "way out." Don’t forget your own value and significance. Everyone has their own unique contribution and role. I want to express that shackles are invisible and three-dimensional in the heart. People are born free, but they are shackles everywhere. You need to break through on your own. Be your favorite self. |
