Preseason Practices

    • Any athlete in-season with the HHS basketball or wrestling team is optional for practice until their season is over – in-season sport takes priority
    • 6/7/8 graders will attend these practices, although these will be optional due to the late ending time at a young age.
    • Late practices on school nights do not constitute an acceptable reason to be tardy to class the next morning. You are expected to be on time for school the next day.

Strength & Conditioning

  • All players should be in a weights class this semester
  • Football powerlifting for football players
  • Non-football players, STRONGLY suggest you get in 6th period S&C with Coach Hamm, that is a rugby-specific weights class taught by a professional S&C coach!!!
  • Going to Vasa is not equitable to being in a focused class guided by a professional, not to mention tough on your in-season schedule

Costs and Fundraising

  • See handout for full breakdown
  • Like everywhere else, costs have risen because expenses have gone up
  • We have undercharged. Even with dues increase we’re still one of the least expensive HS sports fees!
  • Dues: 9-12 Grade = $450 6-8 Grade = $250 Sibling discount available!
  • Registration: Required of all players in USA = $210
    • Dues and Registration are separate. Dues fund the program. Registration $ goes to UYR and USAR, not to the team.
  • If you registered for Fall 7s, you do not need to register for Spring

16 of 26

Costs (Continued)

  • Required player apparel (see handout)
    • Required of all players. Can use stuff from last year. New players approximately $120 for required apparel
  • Travel – Varsity, by invite
    • St. George (40-45 players, will take a few more young players)
      • $125 Everyone who is invited will play in at least 1 game
    • Nationals (May 23-25 Elkhart, IN. 35 players)
      • $1450 – This is what it cost us last year, we undercharged, will work hard to make it cheaper
      • Plan is to take Varsity and JV so that everyone invited will play one or the other

How to pay

  • Multiple Fundraising opportunities, more than ever before
  • No reason you cannot pay for most or all expenses by fundraising
  • Payments methods deatiled on handouts
  • Dues paid OR payment plan approved by game 1 or no play. If you’re struggling to pay, talk to us. We can work with you if we need to make arrangements, but we need to know. Players needing to make financial arrangements must put effort in to fundraising – we can help you, but you need to take advantage of the opportunities we provide to help yourself!
